If you were a kid in the 90s then chances are you either had a Tamagotchi, or you knew somebody who had one. They were, after all, a pretty big deal back in 1997 (along with The Backstreet Boys and Ally McBeal), and so to commemorate their 20th anniversary, the original manufacturers Bandai have re-released the little pocket pet so you can once again neglect the poor thing.
For those of you who have no idea what we’re talking about, the Tamagotchi is a plastic egg that dangles from a key-ring, and inside it lives a little electronic animal. There were six different creatures to choose from, and your ultimate goal was to keep that critter alive for as long as possible. The new version remains faithful to the original, although it’s now only half the size and considerably cheaper ($13.55 compared to $17.99 in 1997). As with all good things however, there’s a catch, because they’re currently only available in stores in Japan and on Amazon Japan. Still, here’s hoping Bandai decide to roll them out worldwide. Please Bandai! We promise to look after them this time! Probably.

I was a lazy Nano Baby mom. I would set the clock as night time all day (so it would sleep), and then reset it back to night when it was time for me to go to bed. I spent virtually no time feeding or playing with the baby, and it slept its way to growing up. I had to... those 6 am feedings were brutal for a 14 year old.

They are back? The never left tough... I have several of them, bought on eBay like 6 years ago. (I used to collect) Actualy my daughter played with 2 of my tamagotchi's just yesterday

I remember having one of these, right along with a Littlest Pet Shop Digital Care for Me pony one, and a Pixel Chix toy, the one with the pink house. Those were some great toys, and great memories, man...
