This Woman Throws Miniature Parties For Squirrels Who Come To Visit Her
One morning, Ashly Deskins found two injured squirrels in her yard, who had most likely fallen from their nest. She and her husband rushed them to the vet’s, but it was too late. They didn’t make it, but the incident was enough to spark Ashly’s interest in squirrels.
As she started to observe their daily life, the California-based photographer came up with a brilliant idea – to set staged backgrounds for the squirrels. “It started with just some little props and eventually led to me buying flooring to create more detailed images,” Deskins said. “By observing the squirrels, I can determine what they feel comfortable jumping on… and what I can or can’t use.”
She added: “I will usually set up a scene and it could be hours before any visitors come by… it can take several more hours before I can accomplish some finished images as they usually come, take their almonds and run.”
Still, we think Deskins did a brilliant job. The squirrels are able to attend Super Bowl parties, grab a bite from a food truck, and even vote for the US president.
