“Ideas won’t just pop out easily! As a freelance illustrator, I have to be very disciplines and do a lot of homework,” Heng Swee Lim told Bored Panda.

“My normal practice is going through a lot of data (pictures, article, news, songs, movies, etc.) which most likely would spark your creativity, taking notes on every possible object, quote and situation”

“I love to challenge myself and not limit myself to only 1 style. I think different ideas/stories need different styles of illustration to deliver the message”

“I love all of my works but, if have to choose, I will slightly lean to the simple style. A lot of time, when an artwork develops from a simple sketch to a complicated colourful illustration, I don’t always feel right with it and at the end always found that the simple first doodles/sketches are the best”

Thank you, Heng Swee Lim, for talking to Bored Panda about your work!
