Norwegian Midwives Reacting To Birth Meter

In Norway, receiving healthcare when giving birth is free of charge. In many other countries, women are forced to give birth without qualified help because they cannot afford the cost, risking the lives and health of both themselves and the child.

To make people help fight this problem, Save the Children developed “the birth meter” and introduced it to Norwegian midwives.

The birth meter keeps control of all costs during a birth, and most importantly; prints an invoice for the mother at the end.

The meter was introduced to Norwegian midwives through a fake demonstration, with hidden cameras placed all around.

As the birth evolved, the cost at the meter went up…
