In Norway, receiving healthcare when giving birth is free of charge. In many other countries, women are forced to give birth without qualified help because they cannot afford the cost, risking the lives and health of both themselves and the child.

To make people help fight this problem, Save the Children developed “the birth meter” and introduced it to Norwegian midwives.
