A creation of Russian web-developers, an iOS app called Prisma, is using deep learning algorithms to transform your smartphone photos into eye-catching artworks based on different graphical styles. Currently, Prisma is offering around 20 art filters inside the app, with some of the art/graphical starting points including paintings by Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Roy Lichtenstein, and Wassily Kandinsky.

The processing is done via Prisma’s remote servers, where neural networks are used. Prisma’s art filters are not actually filters but a way of imagery creation by using the two data inputs to generate a final image. CEO and co-founder Alexey Moiseenkov said that the app’s creators had to artificially confine the amount of people using the app because their servers were not prepared for such a large amount of users; besides, the app is still in its beta stage (that’s why it’s available only in app stores of 10 of the former Soviet Union countries as for now).

Prisma allows you to take a new photo inside the app or use one from your library. Also, there is a social share function in the app, which allows users to post to Instagram as soon as they receive their processed shot. The app is truly awesome and can help to transform any of your photos into some interesting pieces of art. The following photos created by my soulmate and me are examples of what you may get by using this app.
