Landscape Designer Tells A Touching Story About Loss Through His Award-winning Garden
Australian garden designer Charlie Albone recently won the silver medal at The 2015 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It was his very first time to participate at the event but the story behind his landscape design project called ‘The Time In Between’ earned him great appreciation from both judges and the public.
The concept behind the garden design is wrapped around the feelings Albone felt after the passing of his father. Romantic shapes tell a colourful story about life and the meaning of people we love. The garden’s landscape features 3 main sections with the first one reflecting the joy of everyday living. The second zone focuses the attention on a stunning water feature that’s intended to remind us how we can lose something or someone without expecting it – just like the water vanishes in the blink of an eye. The last section represents a calm place to meet your closest people and enjoy the time you can have together. To add a deep personal touch to his garden, Albone uses the same plants he grows at his own place near Sydney, Australia.
