Maybe you will marry someday or get engaged. Or maybe you just graduated from school or having a secret lover. Or maybe you just want to feel unique or special.

Besides my study as an Industrial Product Designer I have started a Dutch company called UbbensDesign. I want to focus on the people’s need of having something that’s one of a kind, something special.

With the help of 3D printing I can make awesome shapes and 3D print them. I would say anything is possible. A goldsmith can always help making the right decisions according the material and help put the gemstones in the ring. Hollow shapes like the bracelet that is shown below, is almost impossible to make for a goldsmith and would cost a load of money, in contrast to 3D printing.

I think both are needed and that goldsmiths will never die. Their knowledge is valuable and both methods have it’s benefits and disadvantages.

For the customer I will sketch, make a 3D model and send photo-realistic pictures of what it will look like. When the customer gives a ”go” I will put everything into motion and let the one-of-a-kind ring be made. It is always amazing how it turns out in the end!
