Fitness Blogger Reveals What Happens When You Don’t Shave Legs And Pits For 1 Year To Promote Natural Beauty
Though women’s liberation movement started around the 1960s in Europe, we still need to put in a lot of effort to reach the real gender equality. And ladies, being creative creatures, can find many ways to attract the attention to their problems. One of those ways is the new trend of hairy women, and Morgan is one of these brave ladies.
Fitness blogger Morgan Mikenas probably saves a fortune in razors. She also apparently has a lot more free time than many of us. Why? Because to promote natural beauty, the fitness model and blogger has gone an entire year without shaving her body, and here are the results of her au naturel hair trend experiment.
“I’m not trying to make all of humanity stop shaving their hairy armpits and leg hair anymore,” said Morgan in a clip she posted to YouTube recently. “I just want to inspire others [to do] what works for you, what makes you feel the most comfortable.” Citing time as the number one reason behind her decision to stop shaving body hair, she was also inspired to let it grow out after being bullied in gym class when she was 11 or 12 for having hairy legs. She decided to embrace her natural beauty instead of subscribing to what society expects of her, and she says that her boyfriend likes it and thinks that she looks beautiful either way. “I want everybody not to feel ashamed of themselves,” she said. “I think it’s unfair that people think they have to be in this cultural norm. Just do whatever makes you feel good.” It might not be for everybody, but kudos to Morgan for standing up for what she believes in. Shaving your legs and armpits takes a lot of time and effort
So fitness blogger Morgan Mikenas decided to stop shaving her body for a year
“I’m not trying to make all of humanity stop shaving their armpits and leg hair anymore,” she said
“I just want to inspire others [to do] what works for you, what makes you feel the most comfortable”
The main reason she stopped is that shaving takes so much time
She was also inspired to let it grow out after being bullied at school for having hairy legs
“I want everybody not to feel ashamed of themselves”
“I think it’s unfair that people think they have to be in this cultural norm”
“Just do whatever makes you feel good”
What do you think? Would you give it a try?

Share on FacebookSo downvote away, but as an experiment, I've tried growing out my body hair, and it didn't make me feel liberated at all. In fact the process is itchy, and makes me sweat more. I found in the end, I just don't like body hair on men OR women. It's just a preference, to each their own, but I'm personally turned off by lots of body hair regardless of gender.
I actually agree with you. I'm a lesbian, so I haven't been conditioned by men to think any kind of way towards women. But for me personally, one of the things I love about a woman's body is how soft and smooth her skin is. I'm all for equality, but I like that women AREN'T like men, the sense that they shave their bodies. It's also a preference, just like there are some straight women who prefer a clean shaved male face, to a bearded one.
Load More Replies...This! This is the point everyone else is missing going "I don't like it on her/me" etc. You don't like it on her? Doesn't matter. You don't like it on you? Don't have it.
Load More Replies...She is a extraordinary beautiful girl, no question. But to be honest, the hair is not my taste at all.
We've been conditioned to it not being our taste. I'm actually kind of bothered by the fact that I don't like it.
Load More Replies...She's beautiful, our adult brains are conditioned to find hair in women, ugly; but I bet a toddler wouldn't mind/find it disgusting. So that's not an instinct, it's not how we are, it's what society has taught us to be. So good for her. Bravo! ...But seriously I didn't know a woman could grow that much hair :D
Yep, my legs look like my husband's when I don't shave (which is my norm). I think when a lot of women talk about how they prefer to shave because it's not that much trouble don't realize HOW MUCH shaving some women have to go through to get smooth. Sometimes you literally have to shave twice even with a sharp razor on areas like your thighs. God help me if I have to shave my thighs....my body doesn't twist that way LOL.
Load More Replies...i also have thick dark hair on the inside and back of my thighs, nice to see i'm not the only girl who does. though i always shave mine out of embarrassment. she may also have PCOS like i do, or it may just be her genetics, but regardless it's pretty rude to make fun of someone for having it. some of these comments p**s me off.
I feel the same! I'm hairy like mountain gorilla, thanks to PCOS and genes. Somehow comforting to actually see someone has hair too.
Load More Replies...She has rather shaped eye borrows for someone trying to promote being natural.
"Just do whatever makes you feel good." She's following her own advice, and shaping her eyebrows and not shaving makes her feel good. It's not a "go all out or don't even bother" kind of thing.
Load More Replies...I had a girlfriend that went to an all girl's Catholic school about 50 years ago, and they had a strict rule of You Will Shave Your legs and pits. The school uniform was a skirt, blouse , crew socks and loafers. The girls decided to band together and buck the shaving rule ...They let the hair around their ankles grow out ! Their socks covered it so the nuns didn't see it . According to my friend one of the staff caught sight of the furry anklet and hauled them all in for a communal shave session. She said they had some impressive results before that happened. As an over 65 woman I've noticed that the hair doesn't grow as fast on the legs and pits now. I do however have to deal weekly with the facial hair that is plaguing me since I generate no hormones any longer... Let's hear it for old age and all the joys it brings...ARGH!
I'm with you sister! I can now participate in Movember much to my horror, lmfao.
Load More Replies...Nice! Now I'm pregnant I also stopped shaving, and guess what.. I like it! No more itchy skin, redness and so on!
I also stopped when I was pregnant. It was easier and my hair also grew a lot slower. It was fine for a break but it was nice to shave after
