New York-based sand castle artist Calvin Seibert has recently returned from his holiday in Hawaii and uploaded some new pictures of his amazing sand castles on Flickr.

Sculpting these perfectly round and angular castles requires loads of patience, practice and skills, which Seibert acquired working as a sculptor’s assistant. Besides his skilled hands, the artist uses 2 small plastic spackle tools and a 5 gallon bucket for digging sand and fetching water. Additionally, the castle sand’s moisture must be just right: if too wet, it falls under its own weight – if too dry, it crumbles.

“Building ‘sandcastles’ is a bit of a test. Nature will always be against you and time is always running out. Having to think fast and to bring it all together in the end is what I like about it” explains Seibert.
