Canadian artist, Ted Hayward, is using automotive “candy” paints to create stunning, dynamic paintings that dance with the light. Re-purposed road signs are the perfect medium to create paintings which appear to constantly shift and move. An internationally-recognized painter, Ted has recently traded-in his canvas and paintbrush for a spray-gun and a grinder. Old road signs make great canvases -the more character, the better!
Sometimes, Ted engraves the aluminum first, such as this Ying-Yang; it is buried under countless layers of transparent “candy” paint, and only appears when the light hits it just so:
Ted also likes to incorporate gold leaf and other metals into his new paintings:
