Cats don't own smartphones, mainly because touch screens aren't easy to use when you have paws. But if they did they'd probably use them to crank call dogs, ignore calls from their humans, and Google the best strategies for world domination. What they wouldn't use them for is taking selfies, because as you can see from this list of photo (un)friendly felines compiled by Bored Panda, cats hate selfies. Some will simply refuse to smile, others will freak out, and more than a few are likely to attack you if you try to snap a picture of them. This, among many other reasons, is why I'm a dog person. Cat bites are nasty. My cat bit me once because my brushing him felt too good, yep too good. It immediately became infected, and what an ordeal it was to heal it.

It's clear that many of these shots are happenstance moments of expressions on the cats face. These are the faces cats make. They don't make the same faces we do. These people are not holding them improperly. No, you're not supposed to tote them around by their necks or under their arms but they also don't have Dengue fever and will bruise and break at the slightest touch. Do you? Most cats who hate to be held have never been held correctly. I've gotten many a cat to learn that being held by me is safe and easy and might even feel good- but it takes time, patience and respect. Most people just don't seem to care.

I am 60 yrs old. My family had cats when I was born. I grew up with multiple cats. At one time , we had 10 at the same time. Where we lived (rural road between 2 state routes) was convenient for people to throw out unwanted pets. I have always been able to hold cats even like a baby with no problems. The only cat I was never able to hold that way, was 1 who by his actions had been badly mistreated. By his reactions he had been held down on someone's lap while they broke his tail in 4 places probably for getting on the furniture. It took several months for me to be able to get him to lay on my lap for a few minutes. He eventually became a vetting loving cat as long as you didn't hold him. He had a great rest of his life. The main thing is you have to respect a cat as the individual they are. Over the years, several of the cats who adopted us had been mistreated. It sickens me that someone could mistreat a helpless animal. BUT it also makes you wonder how they treat their children. Scary

I get that people want pictures of their cats. My now deceased older dog never liked taking photos, so now I have nearly none left of her (I'm glad my younger dog doesn't mind at all). But do you really need to force the cat to pose? Just snap a picture when they're being naturally cute, it even looks much better.
