The blind cow called Baby and pig named Lulu have been friends for 8 years at a rescue organization Don’t Forget Us Pet Us (DFUPU). The two were inseparable.
“[Baby] always knew where everything was, because of her,” Deb Devlin told The Dodo of Lulu. Sadly, Lulu passed away, leaving Baby heartbroken. “If she wasn’t eating, she was crying for her pig — mooing and going in circles, because she can’t walk far or else she’ll hit something,” Devlin added.
Fortunately, a new calf at the sanctuary gave Baby a chance to be a mother she never had a chance to be. “Baby…is blind, but if you start walking over, she knows you’re walking over,” Devlin added. “She’ll actually move right in front of the calf. I feel like Lulu was Baby cow’s protector,” Devlin said, explaining that the roles have been reversed. “It’s amazing to me to see this side of Baby — being this protector and nurturing and being all those things that Lulu was to her.”
