I am Reynante Martinez, a 3D artist from La Union, Philippines.

In this post, I share with you my story-driven artworks from 2014, inspired by my own life experiences and the world around me.

These pieces were created digitally over a period of 1 year, where I attempt to create something new every week.

Cancer

“We are always getting ready to live, but never living.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I dedicate this piece to aunt Grace who was diagnosed of pancreatic cancer a few months ago.

She passed away March 24, 2014.

Distand Worlds

“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.” – Charles Buxton

Inspired by the long distance relationship I have with my fiancée and how I miss her so much.

Fear

“We fear things in proportion to our ignorance of them.” – Christian Nestell Bovee

Inspired by a spontaneous idea that thoughtfully made its way into my consciousness on a random day.

Uncertainty

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

As a kid, I’ve always wondered where my paper boats travel to as soon as I release them on the flooded roadside.

Hope

“Let your dreams change your reality, don’t let your reality change your dreams.” – Jordan Rose

Inspired by the lives of our unfortunate fellow human beings and by the pain that somehow gradually consumes me as I come to realize this worldly circumstance.

Separation Anxiety

“Sometimes you have to create what you want to be a part of.”

Inspired by those moments when we genuinely feel lost; and by my undying love and appreciation for nature.

Depth

“Beneath the turbulent surface of our mind, there is always a vast ocean of clarity and peace.” – Unknown

This piece is a depiction of our lives.

Inspired by the film The Best Offer, by one of the music videos by Lindsey Stirling, The Calling’s Our Lives, and by our little Hailey’s (three months old puppy) fight for life and survival.

Perfection

“Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.” – Frank Tyger

Inspired by the great thinkers of all time, by the hardworking individuals, and by the art of creating itself.

An Unforgettable Adventure

“Why is it so difficult for us to see that our search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is only hiding the fact that we are both the rainbow and the pot of gold.” – Jampolsky

I’ve always loved the outdoors, safari, and nature in general and here’s my take to the hopes of preserving it for the next generations to come.

Freedom

“Freedom isn’t worth having if it doesn’t include the freedom to make mistakes.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Visually, inspired by my garden; emotionally, by the guilt-stricken reality of how we humans domesticate our biological siblings, and by the subjective and often beguiling concept of freedom itself.

Playtime

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins

Another spontaneous doodle to express my odd imaginations and to detract from my usual routines for awhile.

Entropy

“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” – Albert Einstein

Inspired by the second law of Thermodynamics, by our busy lives, and by my seemingly futile attempt at keeping things as orderly as possible.

Nostalgia

“The pursuit of happiness isn’t about the happiness. It’s about the pursuit.”

This piece depicts our childhood memories and how they slowly fade away.

You

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation,
because your character is what you really are,
while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” – John Wooden

The idea came unexpectedly while doing the dishes on a Saturday afteroon. ;)

“Which one are you?”

Family Portrait

“Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.” – Gayle Forman, If I Stay

A still life render depicting one of the most valuable and basic units of a society – and one which has the strongest of bonds.

Sheep Happens

“The price of being a sheep is boredom. The price of being a wolf is loneliness. Choose one or the other with great care.” – Hugh MacLeod

Something to brighten up your day.

My homage to the Gooseberry Project and inspired by my faint memories of childhood.
