What Do You Get When You Mix Spider-Man And Montreal’s Street Art Festival?

Hi y’all! Montreal and Cosplay photography are 2 big loves in my life and here’s how I combined them.

For those who don’t know, Montreal is THE city for festivals. Not a week passes without a celebration of some kind. One of my absolute favorite amongst them is the MURALE Festival, which happens every year on St-Laurent street. The event only lasts for 2 weeks, but its artworks remain, accessible to all. You end up with a colorful, pop, crazy area full of street art to feast your eyes upon.

And what character could fit this amazing aesthetic than Miles Morales from Spider-Man : Into the SpiderVerse! I found the street artist spider in @spydee_cosplay on Instagram.

We set out on St-Laurent street as the sun was setting down. Walking downtown with a costumed character is always a blast. 20% of passerby while shout out to you, and 79% will act like nothing is happening. 1% will stop by and tell you you’re not shooting your subject the right way or in the right location (shout-out to you, the lady who was drunk at 5pm in front of the Micheal Reeder parking lot!). In 2 hours, we were able to shoot in 3 distinct locations and freaked out a group of pre-teens. A good shoot all in all!
