25 Of The Best Photos From The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards Shortlist
The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards gathered some of the best amateur and professional photos around the world and showcased them in an epic collection of the year’s best photos. The shortlist for this year’s photo contest is sure to please, featuring a series of beautiful and powerful images from a range of different categories.
The photography contest received a record total of 173,444 images from 171 countries this year – 24% more than in 2014. The overall World’s best photography winners, who will be revealed on April 23rd, are competing for a total of $30,000 in cash prizes. Participants competed in 13 professional, ten open, and three youth categories.
The contest is an inexhaustible well of beautiful pictures done by the best photographers – when we wrote about the contest several months ago, we highlighted a completely different set of cool images, all of which were stunning and none of which are highlighted here.

Share on Facebook“Une Crise Humanitaire2". Its a portrait of the reality of live and we have no concept of what it is like. It stopped me in my tracks,
Impossible to compare the lot, these are all very different subjects and approaches...
No way to vote on this! Really a mother and her son starving to death and then beautiful dancing swimmers, Ballet dancer, people sleeping!
Load More Replies...Une Crise. People need to be reminded of theses things and do something
“Une Crise Humanitaire2″, “Exuberance”, “Underwater Grace”, “Pray” and “CAESAR” 1-5 in that order
The lady and child got your attention did it not? Do something was the message not asking your opinion! “Exuberance” -Positive opposite. DLR
Une Crise Humanitaire2 absolutely - if that does not propel you to ACT - to insure that children do not go hungry in our world nothing will.
Une Crise. People need to be constantly reminded that there are people in need.
THE SECOND TRAINER, tells a story that I haven't seen before... It doesn't feel posed or planned like many of the other photos. I like it
I wanted to come here and just say, “Animal Behaviour” aka "My Preciousssss", but when I saw “Une Crise Humanitaire2″ my jaw dropped.
Each photo tells a story as all are thought provoking. To be nit-picky:- attention should be made to grammar & spelling in the captions.
Thanks to photographers who show us more of the world that we could possibly see on our own.
“Une Crise Humanitaire2″ “A Life Apart: The Toll Of Obesity” deux mondes différents une seule planète !
Une Crise Humanitaire2 is so pathetic and shocking. What have we humans come to?
I absolutely love "exuberance"! It perfectly captures the fascination that the child is experiencing at that very moment.
"Une Crise Humanitaire2" Hands down, some of us have no idea how incredibly blessed we are here on Earth. God bless them all!
What a contrary Jokes severe Obesity v/s Acute Malnutrition, Architectures v/s Mongolian Nomadic Life, Caser v/s Down Syndrome/ Glasgow.
"Caesar" = because it has never been caught this HD "Hundred And Forty Centimeters" = DS needs to be accepted, respected, appreciated
old shepherd - powerful and lyric; miracle mile - great colors and composition. the one with the starving child broke my heart...
I agree, beautiful photos but on vastly different subjects. In order - Une Crise Humanitaire2, Exhuberance, Pray & Frog Story
It's hard to pick just one.. I like "On The Tundra".. "Frog Story"... And "Caesar".
