Why does social media make it seem like everybody else is having more fun than you? The answer is simple. They’re not. They just look like they are. Don’t be fooled by their pictures of wild parties, hipster lunch dates, tranquil yoga sessions and romantic outings with their significant other, because as you can see from the video below, not everything is quite as it seems.
The video was created by Ditch the Label, an anti-bullying organisation working in the USA, UK, and Mexico, and the purpose of the film is to highlight how the “perfect” lives that people strive to imitate are often not so perfect after all. Created in partnership with fashion house boohoo.com, the video raises important questions about truth, perception, and identity. “We’re all guilty of twisting the truth a little bit on social media,” writes Ditch the Label on their website, “but at which point has it gone too far?”

Load More Replies...Digital happiness is worst..this is the reason why I deleted my instagram and will delete facebook very soon :)
Awesome! Why don't you create a story here on bp! And tell us how it felt!!!
Load More Replies...Wow, that would be too exhausting for me. If I meet my friends, I meet my friends, sure maybe we look from time to time at our smartphone, but mostly we talk and have fun. If I would meet a friend who looks all the time on his phone, I would just ask him to put it away or at least ask if there is a reason. For me, this video isn't true, but I know people who seems to act like this. But they aren't my friends.
I'm so glad I don't use social media like this... sad that some people do.
I don't have socal medias for this very reason... I don't want to be consumed by the internet...
This is something that everyone watching social media photos should see. Along with the reveal pictures of how you should pose to look stunning or how "natural" photos look like and the process of creating them. Not to mention to raise the awareness of photoshoped pictures. Maybe then people will start to aknowledge true beauty and actual worth of everything. Cause really A LOT of content in the Internet is simply FAKE.
I wanna thanks to a great extent for providing such informative and qualitative material therefore often. www.lovemyfashions.com
This is probably only relevant for the younger millennials.
It is not because of social media, we have just a much bigger audience, but to look happy in a picture was the same even before the net. A wonderful movie called "One Hour Photo" comes to my mind, with the quote: "Family photos depict smiling faces... births, weddings, holidays, children's birthday parties. People take pictures of the happy moments in their lives. Someone looking through our photo album would conclude that we had led a joyous, leisurely existence free of tragedy. No one ever takes a photograph of something they want to forget."
Well I didn't used to care about social media, but now that's where I show my art...
Damn, how accurate is this video though? Great work. This isn't living, this is living for someone else's approval, living for the gram.
More of this? I think by now most people realise social media is just one big lie and those that dont are welcome to it.
You'll long for these innocent days when you get older. Bet on it.
There's nothing wrong sharing the things about you in the social media, what's wrong is if you post untrue things just to impress people. It's too sad, people would rely on the "likes" and the "hearts" to gain self-esteem and confidence. The ego of a person these days is now measured by how popular they are online. I am actually thinking to go on a hiatus, Facebook and IG. I'm fed up of seeing perfect all the time, I need to see the reality.
