Stray Dog Can’t Stop Smiling After Rescuers Shave Off His Matted Fur
Stories about abandoned animals are always heartbreaking and the story of Holland, an adorable puppy with an unfortunate life, is one of those.
It all started on September 27th, when Holland was dropped off at an open-access shelter. Her condition was horrible. Malnourished dog was covered in matted fur and was scared for her life. But the Trio Animal Foundation came to the rescue.
They took the puppy in and started working on her recovery right away. The first step was removing the matted fur. It was not an easy task. To keep the puppy as safe as possible, Holland was sedated for a surgical groom at the vet. The team was happy to find out, that Holland didn’t have any major health issues apart from her skin condition – she had bruises, cuts, splits all over her skin.
At first, after the makeover, she had a hard time walking, but medicine and time helped with that. After weeks of medical treatments and emotional rehabilitation, Holland found her forever home.

Share on FacebookYears ago we rescued a little dog like this too. Beat with a broom because he was "a stupid puppy" by his 2nd owners who adopted him from the pound. He didn't respond to any commands so he was left to fend for himself. Matted to his skin and fed on garbage, this little mongrel came to be ours. After hours of shaving him bald we met this weird little dog who turned out to be the happiest little guy ever. Especially once we figured out he'd been raised in French by his first owners. Then we had to teach him to be bilingual and all was happily ever after! Kudos to the family who took this sweet thing in. She looks SO happy to be rid of that awfulness that was her "previous" life.
This story made me smile. Anyone who abuses animals really should be tortured. I simply don't get it.
I've always said that if I could have a super power it would be the ability to make anyone who abuses another living creature to feel the pain they caused, forever, without any relief, for the rest of their lives, and not have the ability to end their own life. I feel like that would stop a lot of abuse!
Load More Replies...Why? Whyyyyyy do people not find a new home for a dog they don't want?? It's really not that hard to be at least a little bit responsible. And beating dogs, especially such small ones is, just as disgusting and pathetic as beating helpless children. Goddamn cowards!
Love her name, reminds me of the acronym we used to write on the outside of love notes. HOLLAND = Hoping Our Love Lasts And Never Dies.
What a great story. I'm so glad the little sweetheart received help and a wonderful family!
Awwwww!!! Such a cute baby!!!!! You need to get her sweater or she'll be cold! It is getting close to winter! 😙 such a tough puppy
Bless you, she looks so happy, finally getting the home she deserves! My dog was abandoned at about 6months in some woods. When I got her, she didn't know what grass or treats were, she must have been kept on a concrete yard or a shed. I sadly lost her recently at the age of 13. She wasn't the sharpest tool in the box but she was so loving and my disabled daughters best friend (and pillow, if she was poorly or tired she would get curled up with her and use her as a pillow!) We miss her a lot, I can't bring myself to take her urn out of its box💔😔
I'm so sorry for her passing. Sounds like you gave her a wonderful loving family! Thank you for your kindness. I hope your heartbreak lessens, and soon you'll be filled with only happiness and smiles when you think of her. It's so very hard when they pass.

the smile is there to stay every day is a good day and something to smile about for this precious baby. the new shine is her eyes is awesome .
when fur is so matted, it's scary to trim it off... i'm afraid of accidentally cutting its body!
"Forever home". My hatred for that phrase is out of proportion to its importance in life. But I really hate that ooey-gooey phrase. But anyway, this is what happens when we overbreed dogs. A wild dog species would never have this problem. Poor little thing. To have your own fur nearly kill you....
