‘There is no magic in magic, it’s all in the details’, – Walt Disney once said.
‘Let’s create magical shoes from the most non-magical details’, – I thought and started filling out the list of the most ridiculous pieces for shoes.
My grandpa’s wristwatches, Lego bricks, playing cards, and many other things from my childhood looked like perfect details for magical shoes. I mean shoes with real attached items and not some superficial decorations.
Every pair of handmade shoes had hidden meanings. The shoes with wristwatches on them declared ‘Happy people don’t count time – they enjoy it’, while the Lego hearts said ‘Love yourself and others’, and the domino game tiles and playing cards suggested – ‘Be a gambler in your everyday adventures’.
It was an amateurish art project with shoe prototypes. But with the help of a footwear master and his golden hands, the majority of ordinary everyday things can be transformed into walking pieces of artwork bringing hidden statements.
Below there is a story inspired by my everyday life. It’s like a walking on the Milky Way. It’s a bit elegant, a bit mad, with a few drops of milk.
