I Found Architecture From Star Wars In Belgrade
Minimal Belgrade is my artistic series depicting some of the most prominent pieces of Belgrade’s mid-twentieth century architecture.
Often called Socialist Modernism, Soc-realism, Brutalism, Architecture of forced standard etc., the main characteristic of all these astonishing edifices is they will always look not-just futuristic, but as though they were taken from the future and brought to us.

Some of these building aren't as socialist/brutalist as the ohers but still awesome shots!
Ooh I love Belgrade so much :) thank you for this little piece of memories :) I'll be back by July this year :D
Oh, I see people giving their contribution in the comments. In that case, neighbouring Belgrade, you have Brutalist Skopje :) Go to this Bored Panda post - https://www.boredpanda.com/brut-cute-secret-japan-in-skopje/ for a unique link between Skopje and Tokyo portrayed through Brutalist buildings + Japanese Harajuku street fashion combos!
Buzludzha - Bulgaria The Buzludzha Monument on the peak was built by the Bulgarian communist regime to commemorate the events in 1891 when the socialists led by Dimitar Blagoev assembled secretly in the area to form an organised socialist movement with the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, a fore-runner of the Bulgarian Communist Party. The Monument was opened in 1981. No longer maintained by the Bulgarian government, it has fallen into disuse. 53cec283cb...ed6965.jpg
Pošto uz jednu poruku ide jedna fotka izvinjavam se što ih šaljem još nekoliko zgrada_uga...vracar.jpg
Sjajne fotke beogradska arhitekture. Evo i mog skromnog doprinosa... cikcak_fas...vracar.jpg
Wonder how they looked when they were new. Ans a little bit of color here and there would be nice, too.

First, in this photographic set, there are at least 5-7 slides, that has nothing to do with Socialist modernism or brutalism, because, simply , this architecture dates from pre- WW 2 period, thus those are examples of Modernism architecture and some of them of so called New National style in former Kingdom of Yugoslavia that flourished in late twenties and through thirties of XX century... so I think it is helpful to be more accurate in this matters
In the first place it NEVER labeled them as such.... it claimed "often called". In the second place the title proclaims buildings that resembled the Star Wars .... I think YOU should be more accurate in your research.
Load More Replies...Love the photography! Great architecture! Anything BUT "forced standards"! It is great that world has so many different places, with different styles and influences.
Yes and the grey Savski blokovi were much more Star Wars during the 1999 bombing electricity black outs.
Half of the buildings have nothing to do with "Socialist Modernism, Soc-realism, Brutalism, Architecture of forced standard etc." Some of them are examples of modern architecture between the two WW, some are post-socialist contemporary style buildings ... Anyway, an interesting collection, thank you.
This also can be seen in most of the post-communist Eastern European and Balkan countries. But it's still very interesting!
Nataša, zgrade su lijepe, samo ljudski postupci mogu biti ružni. Pozdrav iz Banjaluke!
