I had a very pleasant surprise recently.
I am residing in Malaysia. In 1975, I placed an advertisement in a Christchurch newspaper seeking for pen friends
On April 22, 2019, Joe Daly was holidaying in Kaikoura, 30 minutes west of Christchurch, and he found a copy of the 1975 Christchurch daily in the drawer. He saw my ad and thought he would try to contact me on facebook messenger, just for fun. He asked if I am the same guy who put the ad!
What are the chances of this happening? That I would see the very same ad posted in another country 44 years later? One of my friends commented that this was like throwing a message in a bottle into the sea and getting it back 44 years later! :D
I did get a pen friend through the ad. But over the years we have lost contact. The last time we corresponded, she had already moved to Canada with her family. She would probably be a grandmother by now…. :D

Share on FacebookI absolutely love this. I'm in New Zealand and am in touch with 3 penfriends I've had since I was around 12 (I'm 50 now). I will share your photo of Julie. Maybe it will spread to someone who knows her.
