MasterCard Just Redesigned Their Logo For The First Time In 20 Years – What Do You Think?
Mastercard has one of the most iconic logos in existence. An estimated 2.2 billion cards carry the famous overlapping red and yellow circles, so when the company decided to redesign it for the first time in 20 years, they needed a logo that would maintain the essence of the original while at the same time ensuring that it reflected the modern age in which we live. And as you can see from the result, they seem to have achieved just that.
The minimalist overhaul came courtesy of Pentagram, a design studio headquartered in London who decided upon a simpler visual that, according to a press release from Mastercard, is “modernized and optimized for an increasingly digital world.” The modern revamp was unveiled on 14 July 2016 and is set to complement Mastercard’s new digital payment system called ‘Masterpass.’
As well as Mastercard, Pentagram have also redesigned a number of other famous logos including DC Comics, PBS talk show, and the London Underground.

Share on FacebookI agree! - It's hard to believe they actually PAID somebody to come up with that new design! hahaa ha ha
Load More Replies...I'm sure that design firm made some serious money for that redesign. Whatever they charged, I'd have done it for half.
Way better indeed, just keep the text within the circles at leasts breaks the whole pie chart design.
Load More Replies...I am afraid you actually use their logo to pay your bills
Load More Replies...Marketing people at their prime. They think they have done a brilliant thing. Everyone else is "Well, ok, but whatever.". Fine so far, everyone to their preference. However, I guess the "overhaul [...] courtesy of Pentagram" will come with a six-, probably a seven digit invoice. Just for the design of course. It is hard to believe there'll ever be a return-on-investment for that. Good thing is that you hardly can measure that...
does anyone know why on earth the logo had to change in first place? and please dont think about modern age or **it
So creative!!! Price of this rebrending $10000000000
Or maybe they paid a really small amount and the artist just gave them their money's worth...
I am a very cautious person and will take a while before getting into it, but I like the new logo..
Did they seriously pay someone just to remove the wording and amend a bit? Sheshhh its something that i could do myself (and I'm the least creative person ever)
Might as well. Kids these days don't know what capital letters are anyway.
