This Man Woke Up To A Strange Noise, Then He Saw This On His Porch (16 Pics)
Earlier this month, we wrote about the most awesome “I woke up to this” moments that have ever happened, and this story that happened to Tim Newton from Alaska definitely belongs there.
“Tim was awakened by noises on [his] deck last week – and looked outside. In astonishment, he grabbed his camera.. and can you believe it? Mama Lynx and her SEVEN kits!!” – he later wrote on his facebook page.
“She called to them and they all lined up right outside in front of where he was standing (he was inside the screen door!) Amazing ALASKA WILD LIFE!!! They proceeded to run and play on our deck, and then in our yard!”
“I’ve concluded that lynx must spend 1 percent of their waking lives chasing rabbits, and 99 percent chasing their kids. It was pretty much non-stop frolicking and rough-housing.”

To get a shot on one Lynx is pure luck, but a whole family is awesome, plus they even stayed to play in the garden too makes it even better.
. . . fantastic delight . . . "Feed 'em" was my first thought, they all look so gaunt that I'm surprised they had any energy to play, especially Mom who has given her all to get that crowd this far . . . "Mom-of-the-year award goes to this spunky lady . . .
You don't feed wild animals. Ever. They become dependent on it. It's terrible for them.
Don't feed wild animals.
There are supposed to be "rangy" like that.
never ... please never feed wild life. Then it is not wild ... it is domestic and that is a problem.
maybe its true but these guys are obviously starving and must be the reason why they came to the door... its not as cut and dry as it seems... dont feed them and they will die! Not better imo
Those big paws are the cutest! This post is so pawwsome !

Adorable times a gazillion!
@david Engel Actually, it is. well, it might not be a number, but it is a defined mathematical term.
they really are...it makes me miss my little Ocelot mixed cat that I found outside one of my old apartments. it was gaunt/malnourished, so I took it to my vet to have it checked out and to get its shots (I had to keep her). the vet was amazed at its beauty. my godchild/nephew also found a kitten, that was a Maine Coon breed (in Louisiana),poor thing was eaten up by fleas and the vet thought he may have been mangled by hitching a ride in a car's wheel well. he named him Flash. next to my little Ocelot mix,Ophelia (and my current tuxedo cat sisters,Eris and Sophia),Flash was one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen. he had the biggest paws and became pretty difficult to pick up due to his size. I've never bought any of my cats, always adopted strays or shelter cats.

gazillion is not a number
Don't be "that guy"
It is. For example: You'll be downvoted a gazillion times.
Video games aren't realistic. Now what?
Mom, can we keep em?
But mohom! Pehlease!!!
I'll clean up after them and feed them!!!
You can keep them... But they might kill you due to the animal instinct and all that. What? Don't look at, it's not my fault nature heartcoded "kill instict" into animals!
I think you have animals confused with humans
Oh, so cute, I love lynxes! The species, native to my country-Bulgaria is extremely rare and I'd probably never be able to photograph a wild one. Honestly, I can't even imagine how great it must feel to capture such rare and beautiful animals on photo!
This is so epic! Once in a life-time - THANKS for sharing!
Love your username... But your mouth is kind of creepy...
who u talking to?
HAHA thanks! I hope creepy mouth relates to the profile picture, and isn't meant in any metaphorical kind of way :)
This is a cat lady's dreams come true! A mama lynx bringing a huge (7?) Litter (7!?) Of kittens to frolic on the porch!! And those feet!! They look like they are wearing daddy's shoes!
AwwwwwwwwwwWwwwwwwwWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
I so agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Cuteness grandmaster level. They are so adorable.
Those are my cousins! They were coming to my house for a visit, and they went to the wrong house! I'm so sorry!
I don't mind a bit! They can have my bedroom. And the spare room. And any where else they need... I can sleep on the couch... Or a blanket on the floor, Welcome, Welcome All!
This guy won't have any small furry rodents or snakes while this family is around.
Finders, keepers!
If mother risked and brought her young to someones home she had to be really hungry and desperate. They don't look well and mother is really skinny.
I think their gorgeous. Wow how exciting to capture a whole family to take pictures of. That's Awesome!!!!
I ADORE lynx. They're one of my favourite big cats (well... I use that statement loosely). Look at their epic beards ad adorable tufty ears!
Look at he size of those paws!
They look hungry
They're beautiful, but way too skinny...
Well, yes. Wild animals don't sit on the couch and stuff their faces like people. They are fine. Do NOT feed wild animals.
lovely nature at its best. Great to see lovely lynx mum with kits. I would have put some food out.? my opinion.
You are so lucky to have the whole family come for a visit. Those pictures are awesome. Almost makes a person think they can go out and play with the kittens. Thank you a zillion times over for sharing. I am a crazy cat lady so i love them all.
I would have been so thrilled. I would then be worried if they needed food and water. Beautiful cats. I despise those who trap these animals.
Wonderful! Thanks for posting...after all the lousy news, this is a breath of fresh air...
Cat Master! New level unlocked!
What a great Username xD
Look at all those cubs! <3 So cute!!
my favorite animal after dogs...they are so beautiful tks. for sharing your photo's...I am a little concerned that they are a little too thin...possible due to such a bunch of babies must be hard on Mom to provide enough food.
I'M IN LOVE 😍
Awww they are so cute
Aww they're so cute!
oh my god, but their massive PAWS

. . . actually the paw size is an illusion created by the contrast of the thin (emaciated) legs & bodies . . .
No...it's not. It allows them to run better on snow. Maybe do a little research before posting idiotic comments.
To all those saying that the animals are starving: the very fact that there are seven young means that they are not starving. If the mother couldn't produce enough milk the strong ones would survive and the runts would die off. That's how nature works. The fact that they are all alive means they all have enough to eat and are doing just fine.
wow, an usually large litter. My guess is they look gaunt because mom is overburdened but if they are all playful then they are likely healthy enough to be chasing rabbits soon.
Loooove the paws
Moving to Alaska, bye
Such a conflict. You know you can't domesticate them, but the cuteness factor would make it hard to resist offering them some food.
Remarkable. Brought tears to my eyes.
Don't you get it? Obviously they are starving and desperate trying finding food.
The mother could be malnourished in trying to feed 7 kittens. The normal litter usually numbers no more than 4. It all depends of the kittens had already been weaned. From their size, they probably had.
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
So many babies all look super healthy too! Good job mama!
. . . "Mom-of-the-year" award is what she gets . . . they are on the verge of perishing, & hunger drove away fear with the enticing aromas that lured them in . . . kiddos celebrated the anticipated feed . . .
They're so thin!!! They must have been pretty hungry!!!
I hope you had some yummies figured out for them, they must be hungry or they'd be far more timid.
I mean, they eat meat and fish and I am sure he has one or the other in his house
They look like cat/dog hybrid.
Ohhhhh................. Lynx are shy by nature, so, I was completely taken in with these photos ! I wish I had been the one taking them !
Cute. I really hope this person wasn't feeding them. Wild animals should stay wild. When they lose their fear of humans and get hungry, bored or whatever - don't be surprised when they eat your dog. Close encounters with humans, usually encouraged by the human, most often leads to the animal being put down. I speak as a steward of Colorado Outdoors, and hope folks can understand that there are always consequences, even if unintended, to feeding the wildlife.
I wonder what drew the cats to a porch which must have a large amount of humans scent? Perhaps the momma lynx associates humans with food? Perhaps humans fed her in the past? Maybe they smelled food cooking in the kitchen?
This is adorable, a lynx mama and her 7 babies, this can probably only happen in Canada, here in Germany some lynxes came back from Eastern Europe or from France too many many years after the last lynx´d been shot for the fur, but they´re super-shy and unfortunately´re still poached, especially the Russians pay a lot of money for a lynx fur, in the Bavarian Forest 2 lynxes´ve been killed within less than a year a year or two ago, one of them was pregnant and the other one had a baby that´s never been found anymore, that probably starved, and two more lynxes from there´re missing, they had radio collars that´ve been found cut off the lynxes´ necks, so probably those two lynxes´ve also been killed, sometimes they find the one or the other missing lynx at a Russian fur trader´s shop, find it out by making a DNA test.... I hope this lynx furamily here´s safe!!! 😲😲😲💖💖💖
“I’ve concluded that lynx must spend 1 percent of their waking lives chasing rabbits, and 99 percent chasing their kids. It was pretty much non-stop frolicking and rough-housing.” LOL at that, fab!
Soo jealous! That guy is the luckiest man in the world to get a while lynx family in his garden!
Beautiful!
Such incredible pictures! What luck to look out and see that surprise:) the only way to catch an animal-on camera, love these!
They are aboslutely beautiful. But they do look skinny to me. Does anyone know if this is normally how healthy lynx look, or are these underweight?
Beautiful pictures. How lucky you are to live in such a beautiful place
Your photos are a sheer delight , thank you
So cute!! Those cats, err lynx i mean :) pawwsomee!!
...what a lucky, lucky person!...all those kittens, big family, impressive...
When things like this happen I consider them a gift from God I have seen thousands of animals in my live all over the world but there’s nothing like seeing them in your back of your house 😲😲😃
Makes me so want to check off my.. live in Alaska for a year (bucket list)... lucky lucky man
Wow! Amazing, how lucky to experience that
OMG, they are gorgeous,,, look at the SIZE of their paws... I hope you cooked a round of burgers for them!,, Brrraaahhh. What an awesome sight. Glad you had your camera close. In a lifetime, who ever gets to see this???
Wow! I hope he returned the amazing reward nature gave him. In the form of snacks for the kittens :D
The size on those PAWS.....!!!!!! Fantastic photos - thanks for sharing!!
. . . large paws usually charastic of Lynx for travel in snow . . . . which is exacerbated by overly thin legs & gaunt bodies in this circumstance . . .
They are owesome were they hngry? Did you feed them. ?
They're so adorable! And those paws! <3 <3 <3 You guys were so lucky to have this moment with the Lynx family. :)
WOW ! I love them ! You got some great photos ! How lucky is that ! Thanks for sharing !
Wonderful photos, thank you! I just love their big paws and their little tails x
Wow what a sight to see so beautiful even the big feet!
Those paws!!! How gorgeous - the photos, the Lynx, just stunning.
The animal kingdom is awesome! Great pics.
What a blessing that was to see this in his life running and playing freely!!
What a glorious surprise when this man opened his door. Who could even imagine that this was waiting for him!?
Seven kittens!!??? I guess they were all there and Mama didn't have any missing lynx.
Too cute!!
What an amazing opportunity to get that close to a whole family of gorgeous creatures!!
Them paws with the skinny body.
Man... i wish things like this happens to me.
omagawd big paws <3
This man must be a disney prince, theres no other way a whole family of Lynx would show up otherwise.
Where is their innate fear of humans?
I would fear humans if I knew that I or my mother could tear them apart in seconds
Wouldn't
. . . starvation drove them to enticing smells & the kiddos were celebrating the prospect of a good feed . . . wild animals have very keen sniffers & hunger drives away fear . . .
they look like they just got out of the dryer♥
They kinda look weird xD but also cute
so pretty she and her kits are every hungry she asking you for help
. . . absolutely, unequivocally spot-on . . . "starving, please help . . . " . . .
Well, hopefully he didn't help. That creates a huge problem. They're wild animals and will find a way to survive.
Cats look skinny and hungry, animals will roam beyond their habitat boundaries when they are hungry taking a risk from predators
The lynxes look starving thin. Hunger can drive animals beyond their habitat boundaries at high risk by predators.
Cute. But there is a reason that they are called wild animals. They react to things different from anything you know about. Enjoy watching them. but leave them alone. And do not feed them. Disney movies are not real life
I forgot how big their feet are. These are great pictures!
too cute!
That is God giving you a gift! Fantastic! A few years back we had a large flock of white egreets stop in our back yard for a break when migrating! And I thought that was special
These are not wild lynx. A wild lynx vixen would never bring her kits onto somebody's porch.
I would feed them..........
Aweome scene to witness, however it means that human development has gotten even more tragicially close to the animals' wild habitat is is encroaching on their shrinking territory. They therefore have to search further and further out to find food due to habitat depletion. Climate change is also a major factor.

Feed 'em! Poor critters are a bit to many for that brave mom...
Poor things look terribly starved! But they ARE beautiful, for sure.
Thank you for taking pictures and sharing. I wish I could have been there. This was really awesome. Thank you. You've got some good karma coming your way.
Beautiful photos.! So glad you are a good photographer! Thank you.
They are starving. Did they get help? did you call for assistance after you finished getting your cool pictures?
Those poor thi gs are starved. Did you get themsome help when you finished taking pictures?
Poor mama has so many mouths to feed....probably hoping for some food,...😟
Poor mama has many mouths to feed...probably hoping for something to eat....😟
They are adorable! I would be leaving food out every night for them.
They are adorable😀 I would be putting food out for them every night.
Now that is how a story like this SHOULD be presented, the whole thing on two pages and no purposely misleading headline. Thank you.
its amazing and they are all beautiful!!!!
AWWW THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORIES AND THE PHOTOS !!!!! JUST PURE AWESOME !!!! THERE BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!
Totally awesome!!!! Look at the size of their toes!!!! Thank You for sharing!!!!
Are all these images from your security camera? i would love to write about it on my photography blogging platform https://www.photosquare.in
Must have needed help feeding her young. I'd feed them
AWESOME.
AWESOME...
Gorgeous, I want one!
They're so skinny..hope he fed them.
They're so skinny...hope he fed them.
this is just absolutely awesome - they are so beautiful - thanks for sharing.
Awesome
I seriously (and stupidly) would have given them cans of tuna. Tuna. All.Day.Long.
are the lynx's dangerous? they r so cute
wet and hungry.....
Give them something to eat! They look so skinny!
I think mama is looking for the missing lynx.
Amazing photos. ❤️ To all of you who want to feed wildlife, no these are not starving. And if they were, there are other ways to help than rushing to your fridge (call professionals who work with wildlife). The average adult lynx weighs from 18 to 30 pounds (8.2–13.6 kg). Male lynx are generally larger than females and occasionally weigh 40 pounds (18.2 kg) or more. The lynx mama in this picture looks like she is between 18-30 pounds.
They are adorable and so like domestic felines at play. Do you have 18 saucers of milk?
If you name them then they are pets
david engel is not a real man.
Hope he used a long lens.
Beautiful creatures!
Magical!
Nobody is getting enough to eat!
It appears they like you living in their backyard.
I would be willing to bet he has NO mouse or rat problem!
Beautiful....
A very privileged moment for this man. Something rarely seen and never in Australia.
You are lucky one
What an awesome experience! Great pics of a beautiful family!
I WANNA HUG THEM BUT THEY WILL KILL ME BUT THEY ARE FLUFFY!!! 😍 Ehem anyways... lynxes are pretty hard to photograph sometimes because they aren't excactly "social" That was really lucky to get pics like those, especially how close the mom let you near her cubs 😁
beautiful cats
Big paws make room for big claws.
amazing
OMG those paws! <3
so cute!! they're hidind from the rain :)
What good kitties
thats A LOT of kittens!
Made my day <3
What a purrfect playground you have set up for these sweeties! Keep up the good work! Great shots, so lucky!
Those big paws are to die for!
Looks like they needed a break from the rain.
Such beautiful creatures:)
Such amazingly beautiful creatures
I never new Lynx's paws are that big! So cute!
It is real cool pic , but doesn't that mother cat look real skinny?
Give the poor skinny things some cat food!!!!!!
Impressive. Only two pages.
Impressive. On only two pages.
From the pictures, it looks like they may have taken refuge from the rain on his porch, but, like typical "kids" didn't want to sit still! 🤣
Look at the size of their paws!!
Beautiful creatures! And look at the size of those feet!!
Beautiful creatures! And look at the size of those feet!!!
probably begging for foods so that the Lynx can have a better food from humans aslong as the Lynx is not dangering the lives of those people in the house coz some wildanimals they like to be friendly with humans
My house
are they being adopted, fostered or taken to a shelter?
beautiful
The size of those paws ! Gorgeous
DAMN BRUH UR SO FUCKING LUCKY WITH THOSE LYNX
Were they hungry? They look pretty thin. Hope this guy gave them a meal.
No! Absolutely NEVER feed wild animals.
Often when wild animals come into human contact like that is the they are stressed for some reason. those cats look skinny most likely stressed
. . . Lynx tail has solid black tip vs Bobcat tail has white on underside . . . some crossbreeding has occurred . . . most distinguished distinction is range & size . . Screenshot...83-png.jpg
glad that you let them enjoy playing at his porch. i would be scared because their paws are so big but they were so cute.
. . . definitely a "Bigfoot" gang . . .
. . . which is an illusion created by overly thin legs & gaunt bodies . . . . exceptional litter size for wildcat . ..
You aren't too bright, are you? Their paws don't look large because they have "overly thin legs & gaunt bodies." They have massive paws so that they are able to effectively run and walk on snow. A simple Google search proves this. Dumbass.
kitty,kitty,kitty,kitty.............. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ouch!
I've never seen such a lynx! The paws are bigger and back legs longer so their butt is higher,so adorable!
Adorable
What a very lucky guy!
This is cool! I'm surprised Momma let you take that many pictures. Were you actually outside for some?
If I woke up for this, I'm pretty sure I'm in heaven. Lol. Omg... So adorable...
Gorgeous!
Beautiful!
I wish i woke up to this
I can't love this enough!
Beautiful pics. Incredible animal those big paws are indeed adorable.
. . . large paws usually charastic of Lynx for travel in snow . . . . which is exacerbated by overly thin legs & gaunt bodies . . . .
Where do you live? This is very cool. What a treat!!!
. . . Alaska . . . per article . . . .
Awesome
My dad says he's a lucky bastard and he needs to know where he lives so eh can take over his house to watch for more.
A once in a life time photo op opportunity. Just beautiful!!!!
A-MA-ZING!!
beautiful.
awww wow that is so awesome! What a great morning surprise! All I get surprised by is possums lol
I would have to guess that you have to deal with them digging through your trash...
Wow, strange creatures! Head and torso of a cat and legs of a dog! XD
You think that's strange? Look at the platypus and tell me what is it and why
They look starving. Give them food, then you can play.
Also upon closer inspection I see that it was raining and their fur is all vet. Some animals have so much fur that you think they are quite big when really it's all just fur.
Trust me, momma Lynx knows how to feed her babies. Humans have this thing where we can decide not to feed our babies, but thankfully animals HAVE to feed their babies, it's an instict they can't avoid
xc
Maybe the want to become pets!
They are very skinny! Feed them! Probably hunger drove them your way!
They look half starved.
. . . Lynx or Bobcat ? two VERY closely related species, whose range overlaps only along the US-Canada border . . . . north = Lynx into Alaska . . . south = Bobcat (lower 48) . . . so our Mama & family most surely Lynx . . .
