For the last couple of years, Lithuanian officers have been pulling women over for the most beautiful reason during International Women’s Day. Instead of giving ladies a ticket, they hand them flowers to celebrate the occasion.
The Internet seems to have mixed feelings about this initiative however. While some people think of it as a simple gesture of kindness shared between two human beings, others condemn these officers as patriarchs and their act as sexist. What do you think? One thing is for sure, the flowers have brought these women a sincere smile during the not so lovely rainy season this year, too!

In Romania, The International Woman Day is traditional to offer gifts to each woman in our life: mother, daughter, fiancee, girlfriend, niece, teacher, coworker, colaborator… is a very nice traditions. 61640109.jpg
In the UK community events and discussions are organised just for women. I missed it this year.

Agreed. I'm not fond of cut flowers and I would never cut some myself or go buy some at the flower shop. But if anyone gives me even just one flower I'll be very happy and wear a huge smile for the rest of the day.

In the UK the police at Glastonbury stopped by us stewards on the gates on an overnight shift to give up lip balms with SPF's and sun screen.

Lithuania kept the tradition to give flowers to the ladies, to make them smile. Other things which left from soviet union are only the ugly ones, and being tried to forget.
This tradition has its roots in the Soviet Union. In Russia, until now, the eighth of March, these actions are carried out all over the place. http://vk.com/mvd39?w=wall-81401827_3608
Nice to see a civilised country treating women with respect - from uk
Wonder if they paid for these flowers with tax payer money or with bribes from the same women?
Look at the smiles on these women faces. How can anyone condemn this? Even if in the depth of these policement it was a patriarch act, they brought smiles on these women faces and that's the important thing.
I think its good for police to be part of the community.... yes flowers to women ..corny but nice . I am all for more niceness ... ( they should extend it to fathers day as well...hec they should just give out flowers all day :) )
They do and there are a lot of policewomen in Lithuania. Just sayin'
