I Make “inner Selfies” With A Phone Camera, Collage, And One-liners
It stared with a simple love letter collage: “I’ve got my Eye on You” (with a photo of an eye and the letter ‘U’). Then, while overlooking a beautiful beach, I held up an eye image in front of the view and snapped the scene: “Eye am… (beautiful, wish you were here)” – a play on the classic post card image. And then “eye” just couldn’t stop… I began to see visual puns everywhere I went. Armed with a baggie filled with clippings of eye images, letters and words, I begun snapping my surroundings and making them into little collages with statements.
I’ve come to think of these photo collage series as ‘inner selfies’. Instead of taking a picture of my ‘exterior’ self, I use the image of the eye to create a snapshot of the thoughts in my mind.
