I took these photos during a long boat drive from the Abaco Cays back to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island this summer. Out in the open sea, adrenaline ran through our veins as we realized there was no other vessel in site… Then tranquility set in as we gazed around us at the water and sky blending together as if there were no horizon. My sister and I also had some fear in us when it looked like we really could go straight to the sky at any moment or drift into infinity, into an abyss…and then came the fear that we could get hit by the storm coming in. But then intrepidity took over and we outran the dark clouds coming towards us. There were so many emotions winding through me, one contrasting the other, stimulated by fearing being in danger yet seeing such beauty surrounding us and experiencing equanimity at the same moment. Without exaggeration, this was one of the most surreal experiences I’ve had. Enjoy the images I captured on that seemingly neverending, most serene ride.
