For many years I´ve been sculpting and casting my own work in many metals, firing sculptures. Always experimenting. But for the last years, I started to feel worried about our planet, resource resources. There was so much garbage, leftovers, great materials unseen. I started recycling papers, gathering found wood and cardboard boxes. How could I create a sculpture that would stand out time?
My cardboard sculptures are solid, taking around six months to complete and dry. It´s a patience process. Working layer on top of the layer. The paste has no ”sculpting” characteristics. No mixed medias, clays or other materials.Just paper and glue. I paint them using natural pigments and some acrylics. In the end the sculptures are solid as wood.I once gave it a good hammer, nothing broke or damaged!
