15 Proofs That Cats Are Liquids

According to Wikipedia, “liquid takes the shape of a container” and maintains “almost-fixed volume.” So there you have it. Cats are liquids!

However, unlike water, cats do not merely show the properties of liquid – they love to do so. They will take any chance to show they are liquids by jumping into various boxes, jars or pots no matter how small they are.

If you are a cat owner, chances are you have already witnessed this strange phenomena before. However, if you still don’t believe this, below are 15 undeniable proofs that cats are liquids!

P.S: we always try our best to credit each and every photographer, but sometimes it’s impossible to track some of them. Please contact us if you know the missing authors.

Update: some readers expressed their concern regarding a couple of pictures published in the article. We can assure that no cats were hurt in any of these photoshoots. In fact, cats love getting into tight spaces (see metro.co.uk) However, we decided to remove a couple of questionable photos.

Hey Jacky, I’ve removed a couple of questionable photos. I’m pretty sure all the other pics show cats which got into those situations themselves. I also had a cat, and he would constantly squeeze into smallest boxes. They just love it.

Hey Julie Walls, sorry for this, I’ve removed that picture. I’m pretty sure all the other pics show cats which got into those situations themselves. I also had a cat, and he would constantly squeeze into smallest boxes. They just love it. Btw, how can you hate cats? :/

Thank you for removing them! I have a curious kitty too, so I know they are capable of crazy contortions :)

That’s great. I’m sure the pet owners thought their pics were taken safely, and I know cats like doing that (I have a photo of my cat when she stuffed herself into a kleenex box) but I’d hate to see someone take it too far just to get a picture.

  • Kevin Krooss via Facebook

I grew up with cats. They would get into some tight places but never any they couldn’t get themselves out of on their own.

    Thanks Panda

  • Teresa L Wright via Facebook

I agree, some cats squeeze into small places..it’s the ones in bottles where the lid has been put on..I know some people have done it for a picture but it gives out wrong impression :(

Cats love confined spaces like boxes and things. I think in most of these photos, the cats are perfectly fine and happy. Like the ones who are sleeping-they wouldn’t be sleeping if they are panicked. However, I can see a few of these photos where the cat is clearly not happy with being in a container, and this is just plain cruel. The fact that some people would force their cats into containers for their own amusement… Its just terrible.

  • Julie Walls via Facebook

they poop in my garden and dig up my flowers. So technically it’s their owners for allowing them to do so.

  • Jacky Sparrow via Facebook

Thank you! I know they do, but seeing them caged, at the mercy of the photographer makes me feel uncomfortable.
Now I can share the link in good conscience. :)

Joder, que panda de gilipollones xDDDDDD yo tenía a los gatos por seres inteligentes :P

    How is this funny?

    Stupid post.

  • lew

Sorry folks I do think there is a tad of cruelty in some of these pics. I have had cats for 45 years and have never seen any cat deliberately get into a jar. Those cats had to be “stuffed” in there. The last pic of the gray cat just tears at my heart. People who put their animals through things like this for amusement sure do not love their pets. Not cute at all..lew

    • mulata

I agree with you… have also had cats as part of my family for many years and boxes, baskets, large shoes when kittens… but not jars… wouldn’t the jar tilt over if they even tried??? These owners need to think of consequences… what about if you have an accident while getting camera or taking pic and kitty is stuck in there by your own doing! SMH

    • George

Just because your cats aren’t as crazy as mine, doesn’t mean yours is wrong. Cats do the weirdest things. I had a neighbor who complained about his cat attacking his feet at night. Mine never did that. So is my neighbor lying? Come on people. Stop ruining humor.

      • Guest

Attacking feet isn’t crawling into a jar. You are aggressive and prrof only that you are mad.

        • Moirwinvail

my cat sleeps in frying pans, and i once had to take a glass jar to the building supply a few years ago so they could cut the thing open as she had CRAWLED in and got stuck.

    • Mandee Lynn

I have seen several cats try to climb in a jar. They are crazy little critters. My cat will get in the cupboard to climb inside my cooking pan. He’s so strange.

My cat used to do this all the time, she was nuts though. Mostly feral. :( I never ONCE forced her into a jar, she just liked vases / large fishbowl things to hide in.
Please don’t automatically assume they were forced into a thing… If they want somewhere bad enough they will get inside. Please stop spreading animal cruelty rumors where there doesn’t need to be any.

    • Just Me

All cats are different with different personalities. Just because yours didn’t, doesn’t mean other cats wouldn’t do that. I have 4, one of them is constantly trying to get into tiny boxes and my laundry basket. If I had a small glass container, I’m sure he would try to as well. Try to “stuff” a cat somewhere, and you won’t have time to point at your camera. Those cats are obviously happy where they are.

  • Elkay

Ok, I understand what everyone is saying, that cats do this all the time, and they don’t mind BUT WHAT KIND OF PERSON STUFFS A KITTEN INTO A SOCK?

    • Wayne Alan Blood

If I leave my jacket on the couch, My cat climbs in the the sleeve and falls asleep. When she was a baby she climbed into all sorts of odd places, Slippers, Pillow Cases, and yes, SOCKS.

    • fatprincess

If the cat is sick, it can be necessary to restrain them during feeding. Also many cats love tight spaces.

  • Eddy9000

Okay, so has nobody commenting on this site heard of the ‘bonsai kitten’ hoax where most of these photos originated from? They are fake, there is no point arguing whether they are cruel or not or whether cats get into small spaces naturally etc. because they are photoshopped or use fake or long-dead taxidermised cats.

    Google ‘bonsai kitten’

Stop falling for years-old hoaxes people

You most likely don’t own any cats coz they are all perfectly plausible with live kittehs. In fact, one of those pics is mine. AND YES, SOME CATS FORCE THEMSELVES INTO SMALL BOXES, JARS AND PIPES! That’s why I’m so frustrated with my Russian Blue from time to time coz she gets herself stuck somewhere every now and then.

Apparently no one realizes that cats are fucking crazy.

    • Miinnie Bjornson

Yup, mine was a stuffed bunny rapist, before being neutered.. He still takes his naps with it and looking sad..I took his past time away from him.

  • nostradumbass

I’m not a fan of cat memes and such-like but this was amusing – until several idiots put the brakes on and went irrational proving their rationality of how much they care for animals.
As someone else said, you try putting a cat in that sort of situation and you will find yourself mauled – the cats have chosen to be there…. the amount of times our cat ends up in places you wouldn’t dream of looking because the entrance is so small is phenomenal – and that is when she isn’t pretending to be a dog. Cats are all individuals, as are people, so while your precious kitty may not choose to do things like this, don’t mmediately assume all cats are the same and that all the owners have done this on purpose. Stop spoiling stuff and leaping to a(n incorrect) assumption.

  • Vasu Avantika

hedious if youi ask me , such cruelity to stuff cats like this into jars !!

I wasn’t going to comment but I can’t stand stupid people thinking it is cruel.. you are a bunch of idiots… Cats do these things themselves… maybe you don’t own a cat or you are just thick as bricks. To the cat, it is FUN…

    *sigh* feel much better now…
