Bangladeshi Artist Draws Pet Animals In Exchange For Donations Which Go To Local Animal Shelters And Clinics

Saria Saguaro is a Bangladeshi visual pop artist who paints under the alias Pretty Shitty Art.

Since adopting a stray puppy with her partner back in March ’16, she has been brainstorming on ways to get involved with local shelters and clinics that work with strays in her city, Dhaka. In October ’16, she launched her art initiative, “My Pet Project”. Taking cue from her personal sketchbook where she draws her dog Pookie, she decided to draw people’s pets in exchange for a small donation. All donations go to enlisted local shelters and clinics in Dhaka.

So far she has raised over BDT 10,000. She hopes to push it to BDT 25,000 by the end of this year – and is looking to also develop merchandise to help spread awareness about related issues such as pet adoption instead of buying, cruelty-free makeup and mistreatment towards stray animals.
