Mom Turns Her Baby Into A Zombie For A Horror Photoshoot And The Kid Absolutely Nails It
A family photoshoot isn’t just about the pictures. The quality time spent together is just as important. And this family definitely got the most out of their experience. A few days ago, photographer and labor and delivery nurse Tiffany Renfroe shared the results of the daddy-daughter Halloween themed shoot she gave her husband and their little bundle of joy on Facebook, and it perfectly captured the strong bond between them.
“Daniel and I are very sarcastic, as people, as parents. Life is too short to take everything so seriously,” Tiffany told Bored Panda. “Our babies (Kaiden-10, Gibson-5, Oakley-11 months) are our world. We are active parents that would rather be doing things with them or giving them experiences over gifts or money, although they still are spoiled. Our kids go everywhere with us and are included in everything we do (we live away from family due to jobs).”

Tiffany’s husband, Daniel, is a Contracted Blackhawk Technical inspector and has always been a big fan of classic horror movies. “Our daughter Kaiden and he started watching The Walking Dead, waiting day by day for the next season. It’s their thing,” the mom explained. “They also watch a lot of classic horror movies, even Gibson at 5. As long as he isn’t violent, I don’t really care, he isn’t scared and isn’t traumatized by them.”
She said their kids know that the people and things on the screen aren’t real. “I didn’t particularly want the kids watching horror movies because they would be scared. But they aren’t. They sit there picking out different artistic stuff and laughing at the ridiculous props, makeup, and costumes used in the old classics! It wasn’t hurting them, making them scared, so whatever. It’s us. My kids are sweet and loving, do great in school, are nonviolent, love others, and that’s all that matters to us as parents.”
“So I took the baby, Oakley, to visit family in Oregon — my home state — that hadn’t met her yet. While there, my best friend took some pictures of her and me for a little mommy-daughter shoot. My husband being funny when I got home said in the whiniest voice, ‘I didn’t get any daddy and daughter shoot.’ So my mind went to thinking. In the meantime, I had been tagged in some horror-themed pictures, saying it was right up my alley. Daniel gets tagged in every Michael Myers video on the net because he wears his mask all the time being funny. I wanted an original photoshoot idea, something unique.”
“Then, after a few good draft beers, it came to me, the light flickered in my head!” Tiffany said. “I would combine the ideas that Daniel loves and Kaiden loves, and do a zombie baby shoot. I honestly threw in the Michael Myers idea because I knew that would make Daniel super pumped about it. So it took me about a week to put everything together, ideas, location (we drove around for days on our side by side looking for a spot) which the kids always love, and, of course, the zombie costumes.”
Just a day before the shoot, they found the perfect place for it. “The day of, Kaiden and myself, started doing Daniel’s zombie makeup first, he sat propped up against the wall right next to Oakley’s toys, we hoped she would just play while we worked on this. But just like a curious 11-month-old she was, she was right up in our business!”
“So I would do some of Daniel’s, then smudge a little on her, do a little more of his and smudge again on hers, brushes on him brushes on her, she was even attempting to help with the makeup brushes! Her sister would tickle her with the “dirt brush”. It was a game for her! About a 2-hour game. It took patience but was fun. There was no getting her to stay still like many online people have wondered how I did, I worked in her world and made it fun, you know, the tricks moms know how to pull when they need or want things done.”
Even though it was an undead photoshoot, it immediately came to life, with Kaiden and Gibson helping behind the scene, Oakley learning and being so proud of herself, all of them snacking on the props, mostly the red velvet, laughing and giggling at the faces Daniel and Oakley were making. The family was also exploring the woods, watching wildlife, and riding down country roads on their side by side. “It was much more than taking some cool photos, it was family time. I hope this not only reaches the fans of horror movie lovers, zombie lovers, and Michael Myers fans but everyone. There is a deeper layer to all of this, which is time spent with your family.”
“Whatever you choose to do with your children, do something with them!” Tiffany said. “Children need our time, they need us, they need laughs, giggles, hugs, and adventure. That is what they will remember. They aren’t going to remember eating cake and berries off of some fake intestines.”
“The reactions to these baby photos online are positive and negative,” Tiffany added. “The positives greatly outweighing the negatives. I am so humbled for the reaction and support from the people who stand behind me, defending me as a person, not even really knowing me. Thank you for all the support and interest in my photoshoot”
Here’s what people said about the photoshoot
I don't know how realistic this is. I think the kid would have had Michael Meyer's arm chewed off.
I think it’s quite unique that the children are not scared by all this, it makes me curious to know more about them and how it came to be. Also would be interesting to hear their opinions on this once the grow up :)
The last photo being cared away and the one eating the hand are so great expression and body language. This baby is a star.
I don't disapprove, but those pix are haunting. I could picture those photos done in an old fashioned tintype style.
I love zombie movies, but I'd be worried that this kid would have flash backs of being a zombie without fully understanding it.
I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to scary stuff. I'd be looking over my shoulder when fetching wood outside, for the stove, while watching The Walking Dead, stuff like that. These pictures made my hair stand on end. Especially the Michael Myers ones. But the baby nailed it for sure.
That baby is as precious as they come! I loved the on of her eating the hand. I love that the dad wanted a daddy daughter photo shoot, everything about this just screams they are a family that love each other and have a lot of fun together!
Love it! My son got to be a zombie in a photo shoot and a short film when he was 7 or 8 and absolutely LOVED it.
Looks like she's enjoying nomming that hand! She is such a good actor!
These are so gross they are fantastic! Mom, you are Amazing! I cannot believe what a fantastic job you did, not only with the makeup on daddy but baby girl as well! They are waiting for you ar MGM young lady!
Hey! It's the modern day Adam's Family!!! I have no problem with this, because the parents sound exceptionally loving and have a wonderful time with their children. Sure beats these parents today where you can't even mention anything to do with horror because precious will be marred forever! The Catholic Kid's Care in my town has a Director like this, you would think, if you even yelled at the kid who was standing in the street where a car could mow him down at any given moment, you were harming him forever! I'm so sick of the far left and their idea of raising next generations of infantile mammy pamby's! This couple had a blast doing this, and there kids will never forget how great their parents were to spend time with them. In return, you can bet these children will be wonderful parents as well! I can almost bet my life on this, that all the other kids are extremely envious of this family!!!
This is so cute for the sake of Halloween. Great job daddy and baby. Wheres mommy♥
These are amazing pictures and it’s lovely that the photographer’s whole family were involved in making them - and enjoyed themselves so much!
This is fab, those are great parents and having a lot of fun with their kids! Serious make up skills as well!!! I was always allowed to watch horror movies at a very young age, I never like dolls and played with Halloween toys all year round. I'm many decades older now and "spooky" decorations, specially skulls, black cats and bats, are a year-round feature all over the house!
Awesome pics I thought it was cute and it is funny with those chubby legs dangling 😂 great job.
You are a very tallented photograher and makeup artist with a great sense of humor and beautiful fun family, thanks for sharing.
I love it! My kids did this sort of thing and were always pulling my husband and I into their shenanigans. My husband has a friend who does the prosthesis and makeup. So our youngest was the same as her kids; it never bothered her.
Awesome photoshoot <3 And made even better by the disclaimer, thanks to which we can enjoy without worrying.
Amazing ! And you a so talented!so is your family, and your daughter? Priceless!!
I'm a graphic designer and do a TON of high school graduation invitations, many with baby pictures. These are priceless, precious, unforgettable and EXCELLENT! I haven't seen many young people with family photos around their dorms or college apartments, but I suspect these would be proudly displayed!
I can't tell if that baby's eyes are just really blue or they put contacts in?
So cute!!! Is the little one wearing contact lenses then? I wouldn't have thought that's possible
How did they give her a "glazed over" look? Contacts? you dont do that with babies, especially with fake contacts
In case you didn't see, in her explanation, she says they were edited after the pictures. :)
Load More Replies...This was irresponsible. Clearly you are too young and immature to be a parent, despite the fact that you have three kids. Just my opinion. I know that Zombies are a fad now and here you have received kudos for the "artful" design of these photos (which no doubt gave you the ego boost you were looking for) but you traded your children's innocence to get it which is unconscionable. Your children's delicate developing psyches have been ENTRUSTED TO YOU. Did you consult any mental health professionals before going forward with this idea? Here is something to think about....your kids are developing their INSTINCTS as they grow, especially their working knowledge of what is a threatening facial expression or how to recognize a threatening or dangerous situation/posture of someone advancing towards them. I would worry that my children would have their natural instincts skewed in such a way that they would RUN TOWARDS a menacing adult holding a bloody knife hoping for a playdate !!
I don't understand how standing in front of a baby with a knife in a masc or pretending to be dead can be funny
Worst parents ever! I mean if you have a child that can comprehend about the whole thing, I wouldn't even mind, but like this it's just a horrible idea.
I like it but I can't help worrying that this kid might be scarred for life...
Probably not, babies have different concepts of fear.
Load More Replies...This is not right... it seems nobody is acknowledging the fact that looking like that and seeing another person with his guts out can mess up that baby psychologically!
At that age?? How is that supposed to mess them up? That's the age where they paint on the wall with their own feces.
Load More Replies...What a disgusting bad taste. Especially the baby that plays with the fake guts of the father. How can someone put a baby in such a horrible sh**t.
Could be worse....they could be dressed for a pageant.
Load More Replies...It's also been shown that sheltered children have more issues later in life than those that have been exposed to things like this. Also, a child so young doesn't even have a concept of what things like death or even corpses are. Triggers for infants flight or freeze responses are loud noises or jarring movements and lights. They don't even react to things like blood.
Load More Replies...downvoting...but why? I would like realy to know if those kind of photos have or not negative effect to the kids. Because I believe thay will have a negative aspects in the dreams of the kids, maybe anxiety or phobies. Anyway I have already see adults with side effect of watching "a nightmare on elm street."as kids for example. I can't believe the adults believe that childrens forget and in they can handle any situation like the adults. I believe the parents hurry the childrens to grow up. Can we realize that the childhood are the fewest years of our life and the most of our life we are adults .Anyway I hope to be wrong. Bye bye and have a beautiful day..
Load More Replies...It's obviously a Halloween photo shoot, unsure why at this time of year you thought otherwise
