Many people surf through Zillow and similar real estate websites with no intention of buying a house. If you are one of them, you probably have stumbled across some rather unusual, oftentimes weird listings. A particular Zillow Gone Wild page on Instagram has decided to compile the wildest ones. However, don’t rush into the pictures just yet. You might want to learn a thing or two about the page itself.

Zillow is a holy database of “more than 110 million US homes for sale, for rent, and those ones that are not even on the market.” Keeping this number in mind, imagine the chances of stumbling across a property listing that transgresses the borders of common sense, practicality, and something as basic as taste. You say high? We say, tremendous. Listings of this kind and more crazy ones are all shared on Zillow Gone Wild — a database for the craziest Zillow listings!

We aren’t done with the information just yet. Throughout the post, we discuss why these listings are so cool and who is behind the wildly popular Zillow Gone Wild page. Hence, stick around until the very end to get the best possible result. And now, sit back and join us on the wild ride through the most outlandish and probably coolest houses on Zillow!

What is Zillow Gone Wild?

Instagram handle zillowgonewild might look familiar to you because, for the most part, Zillow Gone Wild posts their finds on Instagram. Currently, the account has over 1.8 M followers! Close to 2M followers are in for a daily treat of zillionaire-approved Zillow listings, and trust us, each one seems better than the previous one.

From the real-life Flintstones house and mushroom house unit to a $399,900 home featuring all the planet’s windows, and a roof house that looks how it sounds, 100% pure roof, these weird Zillow listings are ready for some cringe treatment.

It looked just fine til the pool reveal. I like David Bowie as much as the next person, but really don’t want him looking up at me while I swim, if you know what I mean.

Who Runs Zillow Gone Wild?

Bored Panda contacted the creator behind the Zillow Gone Wild Instagram page. However, the creator preferred to stay anonymous and let their project speak for itself. The creator admitted that the idea came after they noticed a lot of weirdly fascinating homes out there on Zillow, “like homes with bowling alleys, indoor pools, jail cells.” The author said that “one particular home had a mining shaft,” which took the craziness to a whole new level.

The creator believes such unusual home designs result from a “combination of taste and money.” “For me, it’s been fun to see all the interesting homes that are out there. I’m surprised at how many people have built actual castles and how many insanely large mansions there are in places like Utah and Ohio.”

As for the strangest listing the creator of the page has seen, they said it was “this one with all the strawberries in the bunkers.” Meanwhile, to the question of whether they'd like to live in such an insane Zillow villa, the Instagrammer answered jokingly: “I’d worry about having to vacuum all of that space.”

What Do The Coolest Houses On Zillow Have In Common?

Now you might be asking — what do these houses have in common? For most of them, the cool factor comes from their design and styling. The coolest houses on Zillow are either wild on the inside or weird on the exterior.

Another factor uniting all Zillow Gone Wild finds is the crazy wall designs. We aren’t talking about the plain ol’ brick walls here. These wild houses take it a step further. Envision sizeable rocks and boulders sticking out from the walls.

However, these listings become even weirder. Imagine finding a Zillow house listing that looks normal at first glance. You have a nice-looking living room, and everything looks great until you reach the two final pictures. In them, you see a prison cell-style celler. Now, that might be a deal breaker to some (or a must-have to others).

Being religious is ok, but, I don't think having Jesus looking down on you while doing certain bed activities is "motivating".

hydraulics, you could install a pump to have the toilet under the pipes level but if it breaks all the neighborhood sewage will flood your basement.

I think there's more wrong with this house than the bizarre toilet... has anyone checked under that freshly painted concrete floor with GPR (ground penetrating radar)?

Either the toilet has to be above the level of the septic tank, or you have to install a lift pump to pump the toilet waste "uphill" into the septic tank. Some local authorities/insurance companies do not allow such pumps because when they fail the septic tanks revert to flowing downhill and empty themselves into the house. That is why you sometimes see toilets installed this way. Ultimately though, it is a lack of construction planning, as the foundation of a house should always be above the septic tank by several feet. They should have brought more dirt in before construction ever started, to raise the level of the structure site to account for the septic tanks.

So guests can fall off and smash their faces in on the sink. And the flush sends the effluent spray farther too.

Honestly...I wouldn't care. A basement toilet is the emergency, someone is in the shower toilet. A once a year pee or poo up there wouldn't bother me
