These photos by Roeselien Raimond, a Dutch nature photographer who specializes in taking beautiful photos of wild foxes, show how foxes are experts at enjoying the little things in life.
“I love them best when they’re totally at ease: free from pain, fear, cold, hunger or any other discomfort,” she told Bored Panda in an interview. “Of course they have their duties calling as well. But once that rabbit is consumed, the territory defined and taken care of important things like procreation and upbringing, it’s time to relax.”
“There’s a contradiction going on when it comes to capturing Zen Foxes: the harder you try, the more you’ll move away from your goal. If you are too eager, an animal will sense that eagerness and will remain alert,” Raimond said. “I learned to do as foxes do, just being there and see what might happen. And in the mean time, I just enjoy smelling some fresh air and feeling the sun on my skin.”

“The most beautiful animals are happy animals, ” Roeselien told Bored Panda
“I love them best when they’re totally at ease: free from pain, fear, cold, hunger or any other discomfort”
“Foxes master this comfortable state of being like no other”
“Of course they have their duties calling as well. But once that rabbit is consumed, the territory defined and taken care of important things like procreation and upbringing, it’s time to relax”
“Foxes can be fully ‘in the moment’, as if they invented mindfulness themselves. No need for yoga classes or meditation courses, since relaxing is their second nature”
“They smell the fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun on their fur, close their eyes and then it’s a matter of just being there. Simple as that”
“There’s a contradiction going on when it comes to capturing Zen Foxes: the harder you try, the more you’ll move away from your goal”
“If you are too eager, an animal will sense that eagerness and will remain alert. They know you want something from them, which makes you a potential danger”
“But if you manage to take things as they come, by just enjoying the beautiful nature around you, who know what might happen”
“And if nothing happens? Well at least you had a good day”
“I learned to do as foxes do…”
“…just being there and see what might happen”
“And in the mean time, I just enjoy smelling some fresh air and feeling the sun on my skin”
Thank you, Roeselien Raimond, for talking to Bored Panda about your wonderful work!
Stunning photos. I love foxes and these are some of the reasons why :) :) :)
Red foxes are my favorite. These shots are amazing. “The most beautiful animals are happy animals ” and their happiness is contagious.
I wish I'd seen article this last year. Or, really, any time before now. Bass Queen has been trapped. Respect. and...f.m.l. -the pharaoh
Awesome Photography! Would love to know what type of camera you are using!
Great shots of one of my favorite animals! Most folks probably don't fully appreciate how difficult it is to make images of this of this wily highly intelligent animal...I do because I've attempted it myself as a wildlife photographer...and it ain't easy!
OMG how sweet is that!! SoSo precious!!!!!Thank-you for sharing!! :-)
Foxes, actually, master this 'zen-kind-of-attitude'. They look so serene :3 Love the photos :D
Wonderful pix....great piece!! My Papillon looks just like these foxes!
I love Foxes. I have one in my Back back yard. This last spring it had three Kits, so cute. Them it hid all summer. But it's still out there,or at least one of them are. Love them,it was a gray rust color.
This is proof that the e old saying that patience is it's own reward is true! Beautiful photography. Thank you.
They are beautiful and wise . Or : wise and beautiful . Good lesson : just be there . Thank you , Roeselien , and thank the foxes !
First time I have ever said that I have learned mindfulness from a zen fox, but I did!!!!
...We're really no different. What do we enjoy doing when 'on holiday'? Being still, smelling the air, feeling the wind in our hair, the sun on our bodies...closing our eyes and just 'being'. Animals know this one very well. Cats, dogs, horses, apes, wolves, foxes, elephants.....pretty much all animals, certainly mammals, domestic and wild. These are beautiful, warm, loving, sensitive photos. Interesting, isn't it, that in order to take these photos, the photographer had to assume the same sense of being? More of this in the world. More, please. Thank you.
a Fox is such a neat little creature; had one living in our backyard for about two weeks. It was out everyday searching playing the would sleep under the edge if the deck.
What, are they all blind?? Nice pictures, but I would like to see their eyes tell a story.
