This Man Said Goodbye To His Last Piece Of Modern Clothing At The Age Of 14 And Has Worn Historical Clothing Ever Since

We have all been in a situation that required some fancier fashion choices, right? A nicely tailored suit or little black dress would do the trick for most of us mortals but this guy from Brighton, UK, took it to a completely next level. He simply decided there’s no reason to dress down, well… Basically ever. Sure, why wear normal clothes when you can look like a Disney prince every day, especially if it makes you feel good and could easily turn into a successful business? Scroll down to find out all about it!

More info: Zack Pinsent

Zack Mc Leod Pinsent is a 25-year-old from Brighton who decided that modern-day clothing just wasn’t doing the trick for him. He did wear normal clothes for many years but hated every second of it and therefore got himself into tailoring and started making historical costumes for himself.

Nowadays, he doesn’t own or wear any modern clothing and recalls ceremoniously burning his last pair of jeans back when he was 14-years-old. From that day up until now, he only wears historical clothing everywhere he goes.

Even though lots of people can find it strange, he strongly believes in his fashion choices and doesn’t seem to be bothered by people commenting at all. After all, the only thing that really matters is that he himself feels wonderful with what he wears.

And the historical clothing he makes for himself is a huge confidence builder allowing Zack to feel ten-feet high. Doesn’t sound too bad after all, right? What’s the comment of a drunk guy on the street at 3 AM when you actually feel like you’re on cloud nine the whole time?

Having such confidence, he is not looking back and is definitely not planning to go back to his old fashion habits anytime soon.

He finds generally people are genuinely interested and appreciative of what he’s doing. Enough to be actually paying money for that, allowing Zack to turn this hobby of his into a full-time career.

He stays humble about that, saying he has no idea how it happened. This modest guy is making men and women’s bespoke clothing from the 1660s to the 1920s, his main focus being the Georgian and Regency period, and is getting orders even from the USA.

Zack, you are amazing, talented, handsome, and unique, I so love, love your choice of fashion, I agree with what you feel of fashion in today's world, when watching old movies, I wish their fashion was back today, I don't care for the majority of clothing choices we are buying, most are simply ugly, especially the women's style, it will be great to see your clothing in the U.S.A. and Canada, be proud, and I know you, you will have a fabulous future, I wish I would have done this for women, years ago !!!

Let's be honest though - the whole reason people like Beau Brummel could spend all day obsessing about their wardrobes was because other people were living short lives working in mines, on farms, and other dangerous occupations. It wasn't so much adventurous male fashion as adventurous bored rich male fashion.

Well, that's still very much the case today. The big difference is this man makes his own clothes, which is a precise and demanding job, which I strongly doubt 19th-century dandies ever did (chances are they didn't know one end of a needle from the other).

If he's using the same all-natural fabrics people used back then he's probably not nearly as hot as you think. Natural fabrics breathe really well. It's all the nylon, rayon, and spandex that makes us feel like we're suffocating. (according to the woman who runs Prior Attire, another historical costume maker).

Always act as if . . . I love to dress up, too. Long before young Zack was born, I bought an Edwardian (or perhaps later Victorian - I'm not sure) tuxedo - knee-length frock coat with satin lapels and trousers with wide grosgrain ribbon down the outside. The outfit came from a tailor in Boston, Massachusetts. At about the same time I was fortunate enough to acquire from a neighbor a beaver top hat in its own satin-lined leather hatbox - same vintage as the tux. The hat was owned by a late-19th, early -20th century doctor from my hometown who often appeared in minstrel shows. Over time I acquired vintage tuxedo shirts, ties, collars and gloves. Not long after I completed the ensemble, a dear friend saw me in it and sent me her father's 19-teens-era wool opera cape - 6" stand-up velvet collar, silk lined, mid-calf length - amazing, elegant object that I later had re-lined and re-collared. I am a different person in that outfit - just like young Zack! Bravo, Zack!

So, it's not really historically accurate. More, of a play on what he thinks people would have worn. Trust me, no one wore big huge clear buttons as seen in the first pic. Also, he may have thrown out all of his modern clothes but he has embraced the modern practice of Rhinoplasty. More than once it seems.

I understand absolutely. I do not like contemporary fashion as well. Really, do not want to dress something what was weared as underpants or look like as spray-on :-) I wear skirts or dresses but I still have not reached such point to wear my cotehardie as everyday dress :-)

Doesn't bother me, and is, in fact, kind of cool. It'd be nice, though not essential if he'd keep using modern hygiene. I've often wondered what even wealthy folks from that era smelled like, besides potent perfumes.

The clothing is magnificent and beautiful. i would love to see what he wears for more casual in his home but those era pieces wouldn't lend themselves so much to that I imagine. For those more dress down and laid back times how would he adjust to that? Must also be very expensive!

I love it, but I am a bit amazed as to why BURN the last of your clothes when there are hundreds of people who would love to have free clothes. By the way it suites you, and you seem to be handle with a thread a needle. Why not make a few modern free bees on the side to give to the homeless, just a thought.
