With so many discussions about why women don't choose to work in male-dominated fields, one reason often gets overlooked. Frequently women who end up working a job surrounded only by men experience all sorts of diminishing behavior from their colleagues. The lack of respect, harassment, and blatant sexism hold women back from taking jobs in any male-dominated industry. Recently a Twitter user asked women to share their experiences while working only with men. This thread perfectly highlights the problem women face while trying their strengths in 'boys club' workplaces. Scroll below to read them!

Parents that tout the phrase "boys will be boys." SMH. (Oh wait... not smack my head, but smack their heads.)

Nurses, especially female nurses, must get harrassed a lot at their job, which sucks

Mostly by the doctors. I think there was a study that showed a lot of bullying going on between the younger nurses/ doctors and their older counterparts. It might be some sort of old apprentice/ master attitude or simply people being a******s. http://www.healthcarebusinesstech.com/hospital-workplace-bullying/

There should be a special behavioral correction boot camp for douche bags like this kid.

I'd ask him to wait a while and THEN just get a male nurse to do it. Creepy.

Oh I wouldn't have asked him. I would have asked all nurses and docs available to come and assist me. And maybe his parents too.

I’d either just send a male nurse in to do it without warning him... or hand a small bottle/tube of lotion (charged to the hospital bill) to the parents and say what he’d like done with it. 😆

Maybe you should have said yes and rubbed BenGay on it. (Or poison oak leaves, lol) THAT would have taught him a lesson.

Would have it been too nasty if you had given him a rub or two with Vicks vapor rub?

I did Geriatric nursing & was a nursing assistant for a few years and they never change, I’ve had 18 year olds make sexual suggestions & 80 years olds. I wish it was permissible to smack their faces. (maybe not the older dudes) It was a method used in the 70s, very good at deterring creeps.

Four broken shoulders? Yes, I know it's possible, but uh, alrighty. The entire "story" is iffy.

It’s possible. Maybe she mispressed a key, or meant 4 broken bones in general.

It isn't always the men. I was standing at a yardage counter with several other women. A man walked in behind us. The female clerk looked right over our heads and asked how she could help him. Nice to feel invisible.

You have to be careful. I was working at Chase when they hired on a guy I had worked with previously. He was let go from his former job for pulling a chef's knife out of his briefcase and coming at someone. I went to HR. But because there was no absolute proof, they told me I couldn't warn people. I could get fired for that. I left an anonymous note in his bosses mailbox. Risked my job to warn him, but it seemed like a good risk / reward at the time.

I was in school in 7th grade and this (a*****e, sexist, etc) guy repeated the same thing that my (female) friend said, and the teacher said what a great idea it was. I raised my hand and said "Cristina actually said that first." The teacher told me to not disrespect her classroom.

I can tell you having been a young pretty manager, people (Middle aged men) gave me a hard time, but you learn how to rise above it.

A male coworker called me bossy.. I told him he wouldn't call me bossy if I had a penis. That made the boys in the room super uncomfortable and I basked in that discomfort.

You should have done as he asked and let him talk to a man who could not schedule an appointment.
