With so many discussions about why women don't choose to work in male-dominated fields, one reason often gets overlooked. Frequently women who end up working a job surrounded only by men experience all sorts of diminishing behavior from their colleagues. The lack of respect, harassment, and blatant sexism hold women back from taking jobs in any male-dominated industry. Recently a Twitter user asked women to share their experiences while working only with men. This thread perfectly highlights the problem women face while trying their strengths in 'boys club' workplaces. Scroll below to read them!

How degrading. Horrible men automatically think women cannot perform "men" tasks

Unsafe working environment for the male staff? What did he expected someone standing to close to the flames to get an erection?? 😂😂

When I was 22 yo, I wore a tank dress to work because it was in style and other women were wearing it. Management (male) came to me and told me I could not wear it anymore because it was distracting others. This is because I had larger breasts.

Opposite. I worked at Lyons in the 90's we had SEE THROUGH uniform shirts. Had to show off our bras everyday but god forbid we have a tattoo, red nail polish, or anything in our ears but studs.

This reminds me of a story my mom told me that when her and her best friend worked in JCpenneys(like the 80s I think??) they wore a skirt and tights and the manager put his hand under her best friend skirt and grapped her butt to check if she was wearing tights

I'd've grabbed something, too--then twisted. Hard. (At the junction of his legs!)

At my old school, we couldn’t wear shorts or cold shoulder tops because they were distracting. Apparently boys were distracted when us girls wore shorts. I also lived in Texas, so we had to wear long pants in 100 degree weather. Oh, and the boys still got to wear shorts. I told a teacher that the boys wearing shorts was distracting me, and she said, “then don’t look at them”.

Attach spikes to it, then it will be an actual UNSAFE skirt. Or just tell your boss that his pants make you feel unsafe.

Really? An unsafe working environment for the male staff? REALLY!!?! SERIOUSLY? Men who can't take responsibility for their sexual feelings and/or thoughts should just go f**k off!!

Gee! I bet you didn’t know those male asswipes gave you so much power over their bodies! That is just pure s**t. I bet their moms would love to know how sexist and stupid they are... any man, that says they can’t control themselves when a woman dresses a certain way, is unsafe period. If you like the job, learn some self defense moves, break some heads and hands.

If lesbians can f*****g handle themselves in a female locker room with half naked women, then men can handle being in the same vacinity with a fully dressed woman.

Gee, he must have been afraid the skirt would catch on a handle sticking out from the stove and dump hot food on some poor man. (/s)

I'd love to know how this ended. If I was forced to leave my job to go home and change for this idiotic, sexist reason, I'd go straight to a lawyer's office. F**k him.

It isn't always the men. I was standing at a yardage counter with several other women. A man walked in behind us. The female clerk looked right over our heads and asked how she could help him. Nice to feel invisible.

You have to be careful. I was working at Chase when they hired on a guy I had worked with previously. He was let go from his former job for pulling a chef's knife out of his briefcase and coming at someone. I went to HR. But because there was no absolute proof, they told me I couldn't warn people. I could get fired for that. I left an anonymous note in his bosses mailbox. Risked my job to warn him, but it seemed like a good risk / reward at the time.

I was in school in 7th grade and this (a*****e, sexist, etc) guy repeated the same thing that my (female) friend said, and the teacher said what a great idea it was. I raised my hand and said "Cristina actually said that first." The teacher told me to not disrespect her classroom.

I can tell you having been a young pretty manager, people (Middle aged men) gave me a hard time, but you learn how to rise above it.

A male coworker called me bossy.. I told him he wouldn't call me bossy if I had a penis. That made the boys in the room super uncomfortable and I basked in that discomfort.

You should have done as he asked and let him talk to a man who could not schedule an appointment.
