Someone Asks People To Share What Architecture Nightmares They’ve Seen, People Deliver (30 Pics)
Not every architect can be an Antoni Gaudi or an Art Vandalay - some make do with the spaces they are given and yes, some do make silly architecture design mistakes. When the results aren't downright dangerous they can be funny, which is why Twitter user Sarah Schauer decided recently to ask people to send her their worst crappy design/architecture pics that they have.
It's fair to say that the internet didn't disappoint. From oddly placed toilets - toilets seem to feature a lot on this list - to slides that lead to certain death, it turns out that there are some real design fails out there! Scroll down below to see what we mean, and feel free to share your own nightmarish home design examples in the comments!

So we've seen the consequences of bad interior design, so what makes for good design? There are a few basic principles to stick to if you want to make sure your design is practical, relevant and makes sense!
According to Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer who was responsible for the design of Braun’s consumer products for many years, there are 10 principles of good design, also known as the '10 commandments.' Even though they were written long ago and technology has advanced beyond his wildest dreams, Dieter's principles still apply today!
Furniture designers Vitsoe have worked closely with Dieter Rams for decades, and helpfully summarize his founding principles of good design with the following explanations:
Good design is innovative: The possibilities for innovation are not, by any means, exhausted. Technological development is always offering new opportunities for innovative design. But innovative design always develops in tandem with innovative technology, and can never be an end in itself.
Good design makes a product useful: A product is bought to be used. It has to satisfy certain criteria, not only functional, but also psychological and aesthetic. Good design emphasizes the usefulness of a product whilst disregarding anything that could possibly detract from it.
Good design is aesthetic: The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. But only well-executed objects can be beautiful.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! This is brilliant! Look them straight in the eyes when you wipe!
Good design makes a product understandable: It clarifies the product’s structure. Better still, it can make the product talk. At best, it is self-explanatory.
Good design is unobtrusive: Products fulfilling a purpose are like tools. They are neither decorative objects nor works of art. Their design should therefore be both neutral and restrained, to leave room for the user’s self-expression.
Good design is honest: It does not make a product more innovative, powerful or valuable than it really is. It does not attempt to manipulate the consumer with promises that cannot be kept.
Tour guide: "Originally there were only 27 floors in our hotel. The other 13 were added just recently..."
Good design is thorough down to the last detail: Nothing must be arbitrary or left to chance. Care and accuracy in the design process show respect towards the user.
Good design is environmentally-friendly: Design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It conserves resources and minimizes physical and visual pollution throughout the lifecycle of the product.
Good design is as little design as possible: Less, but better – because it concentrates on the essential aspects, and the products are not burdened with non-essentials. Back to purity, back to simplicity.
So three you have it, pretty simple right? If you are tasked with designing something and want to avoid the epic fails found in this list, check these principles off first and you should succeed!
This looks like a video game area you have to do a side quest to unlock
I’ve seen this is areas of decoration. Where instead of just having bare tops where people can see, they add furniture. Must give the feeling of less industrial
Hey, all they'd have to do is put a ladder up and people would be clamoring to hang out there.
What?? Can someone please explain this to me? There's way to many levels of wrong to this!
It's a place for Sia to sit...."I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier"
I first thought it was a "sample" salon in a furniture store, but then I realized it's Viari's house. [If "What Viari?" then https://www.reddit.com/r/AcquisitionsInc/comments/75px91/quick_question_origin_of_viaris_chandeliers/ ].
Here you have to do a frame-perfect onto the chandelier, parry it, clip into the wall and build up speed for 2 hours, BLJ into galactic nova, use the buggy hitbox for the core to dodge the attacks, then use PK Ground to access the portal-able tile, then after you get through the portal, you spawn a Barvarium Tank and crash it into Dreadwing, this will cause a Boat Elevator to activate, allowing you to use the glider to get to Dr. Zomboss, now equip Thudley and ground pound the Zombot's head, this will incorrectly store a bob-omb into your item slot, use it and teleport into the Gaster Room, exit the door and you will be in the secret area.
typically, folks use silk greenery and sometimes sculpture with dead space like this. One house had a small dead space above the coat closet in their entry way. The owners had put their favorite stuffed toys there.
I used to work at place and we had to change the decorations seasonally it was treacherous
They had a ghosts problem. Ever since they set this up and put some books, the hauntings stopped!
they have these all over ad every time i see one i'm like... what's the point? there's one at my local olive garden
If I remember right..some of these bathrooms are set up that as soon as you enter and lock the door to the stall, the walls go opaque so you can't be seen....
It's for CGI. You live in a small brick house, the neighbors see the Taj Mahal.
Bringing back the old roman times with a good morning chat on the latrine?
I've been in some places where they have a separate hose with its own tap in the bathroom. Not sure if that would have been intended here though.
I mean its inconvenient, but I do kind of like the idea of a tree in the middle of my house. Perhaps a little better displayed though

The toilet needs to be above the septic tank in order for it to drain properly and not back up into the plumbing. So if the ground floor is a sunk in basement, the toilet needs to be elevated.
Load More Replies...I became irritated looking at these pics. Absolutely gruesome. Can't imagine having people pay to live in these creepy places . I'd prefer a cave.
--> https://images.app.goo.gl/k2ZqhAWKUuSJZccm7 Yup, that is a house built on an apartment building.
Anyone who plays Sims could do a better job of house design than these clowns.
Sometimes money is a problem. Fixing an inherited problem can sometimes cost more than just buying a different house.
Load More Replies...Why many people build the toilet on the stairs? ^^Or a bathtub like that, I bet all these are in the haunted house lol
If you have a septic tank system the toilet needs to be higher than the tank.
Load More Replies...What amazes me is people build this stuff. What were they thinking? Didn't they realize something was wrong at some point?
