Some coworkers are just God sent. You make best friends, you fall in love, you meet your idols, you find your team players to climb up that long career ladder with. They make your lunch breaks less lonely, meetings funnier and deadlines… well, the deadlines are the same no matter what.
But sometimes your coworkers are just the opposite. They make doing your job harder than it already is, and everything in between way less enjoyable. If you are dealing with a coworker like that, let me tell you, you are not the only one. There are millions of people out there handling the most annoying, irrational, or even plain evil colleagues because… well, because it's what you’re supposed to do, right?
So if you're too tired to deal with this on your own, this post compiled by Bored Panda is a safe place to vent and talk about hard things. Pull your seat closer and scroll through the stories about coworkers from hell by sharing your own experiences in the comments below!

No one could breathe. He basically maced the building. We were moved to the other end so we could keep working.
Bored Panda spoke with Christine Mitterbauer, a licensed and ICF-approved career coach and serial entrepreneur who shared some great insights on dealing with difficult coworkers. So pull your seat closer.
Mitterbauer said that “it’s important that you stand your ground and don’t let yourself be intimidated by difficult coworkers, whether they’re negative, talking down to you, or making your work difficult in any other way.”
“Of course, you can try to interact as little as possible with the coworker, but that isn’t always possible,” the career coach added. Moreover, a great skill to practice is becoming better at having difficult conversations, she said.

My Coworker Lied To My Boss That I Could Cover His Shift
When dealing with difficult coworkers, always focus on the behavior you would like to address and which is bothering you, and never go down the road of stating negative traits or characteristics about that person, Mitterbauer argues.
“Stick to negative behavior as that’s more objective and can more easily be verified by everyone involved. Practice exactly what you want to say beforehand, and consider getting other allies on board as well. Sometimes it is necessary to involve management, but it’s often better to only do this once you can demonstrate to the manager what you yourself have attempted to tackle the issue,” she explained.
I Work At A Place Where At The End Of Shifts We Split The Tips Evenly Between The 2-3 People That Work
We had more than 50$ of tips today and my coworker had to leave about 10 minutes early. She ended up taking all but ~2.50$ and management won't do anything about it.
Someone Brought This To The Office Potluck
It's Always A Pleasure To Realize That Your Coworkers Don't Know How To Close A Box Properly... Right When You're Ready To Go Home
Most people have had coworkers they don’t get along with, Mitterbauer continues, but she says there’s a difference between not being great friends and them making your working life miserable. “When their behavior starts affecting your work and/or you are thinking about this issue in your free time, possibly dreading going to work the next day, that’s when it becomes an issue.”

My Coworker Hasn’t Washed Their Coffee Mug In Years
I knew someone who did that. You could pour straight hot water into that mug and get coffee.
Yup very common. Especially among the chiefs. Oh boy do they get mad if a new guy working crews mess puts their cup through the sanitizer lol
Load More Replies...Aren't they getting sick all the time? They're gonna bring back cholera, and I am not ready!
That's one disgusting way to keep your coworkers from using your cup. *Cringe!*
Worked with a guy (VP) who had soup in a large coffee cup almost every day for lunch. Then he'd just sit the cup in the sink for one of the women to clean - despite the huge sign over the sink that said "Neither your mother nor your wife work here, clean up after yourself". We kept putting it back on his desk. He'd get a fresh cup and then leave BOTH of them in the sink. We all agreed that no one would touch them. At the end of the week there were 5 cups, one of which was starting to mold. The company President sees this and goes ballistic. I happened to be closest, so I just said, "Maybe you could have a word with Brad and explain to him that none of us are part of the cleaning staff". Watching that misogynistic pr*ck having to wash his own dishes was pure pleasure.
What? Are they seasoning it like a cast iron skillet whereas it makes coffee taste great?
omg! i worked with a woman whose cup looked worse than this. when i asked her if she was concerned about bacteria she told me that she was an ex navy servicemember and that you are never supposed to wash a coffee cup.
Did she say why this was a thing? I'm genuinely curious. Never heard of this before.
Load More Replies...I got a very nice spill proof mug that looked like this. It hadn't moved from the same spot on the break room counter in a several months so I counted it as unclaimed and took several rounds of hot vinegar to it. Nice and shiny new mug!
During the pandemic?? Through the flu?? Can you imagine what they live with?
Oh my gosh! I just threw up a little in my mouth. Gotta go brush my teeth. BRB
Water fill with a few drops of bleach. Add time, like overnight. Bazoom!
My dad does this, it's so gross. He says it makes the coffee taste better. Me: Not on your life
I bet if you secretly bleached it clean, you would p**s her/him off royally😈
Looks like the toilet in the Teachers’ Lounge where I used to work. The ‘Lounge’ was actually a cluttered supply closet with a filthy toilet inside. No cleaning supplies and you’d get written up if you dared to be proactive and buy your own cleaning supplies. The bathroom the owner and director used was spotless and decorated nicely and stocked with cleaning supplies. They are sisters and any of their family members can use their restroom but not the staff.
My step father was like that he said he was seasoning it. We got in trouble if we washed it
I knew several people when I was in the military that never washed their coffee cup or the coffee pot. One time I washed my leading Chiefs coffee mug and he got extremely irate. He told me it took 15 years to get the cup properly seasoned.
At least he seems to drink it black, imagine the odor if he does it with milk coffee.
I had a professor like this. One week he was out with the flu and I cleaned his mug, not realizing it was that dirty on purpose. He yelled at me for ruining the flavor when he got back. Ewwww
Might have to "accidentally" knock that on the floor for the greater good.
I'm a sinner of this as well. I work in a kitchen and mine can be left in a drawer for days before I get back to it
An elderly man I use to take care of got plum pissed at me for washing his cup ONCE
My father was a naval officer, and in the Navy for over 22 years.. apparently he had a mug like this and was upset when my mom washed it, because the flavor of his coffee was ruined after that.
That's nothing I had a supervisor who's cup was completely brown from coffee.
Were they in the army, navy, Ext.? Because that is something you do if your in the Navy, Army, Ext.
BP just had some posts about people bragging about not cleaning their coffee mugs. Disgusting.
When I worked at Starbucks, customers could nuse they're own coffee mug/ thermos. Didn't have to be Starbucks brand. This lady handed me her mug and I could smell she never washed it before I even looked at it. It was covered in nasty sludge. She said "oh don't worry, I dont I only use non dairy creamer"... apparently that lady thought that only dairy creamers can spoil and rot and gather bacteria?? Like what the actual heck. Anyway and cleaned and sanitized that mug before I put any coffee in there, I'm not gonna let someone give themselves food poisoning.
if this is what he does in front of people imagine what he does at home.
As health care personell, with education on how bacteria and viruses work... No. No it's not. It's not sanitary. And the outside is also not cleaned, where the lips and hands go. Just imagine the fecal residue and such. However I'd guess that peson doesn't det sick often due to being exposed regularily to germs. Just don't ever touch that mug or where it's sat for yourself.
Load More Replies...Actually this mug is OK. If you just rinse a tea mug and let it dry, there will be this kind of stains. Completely harmless. (do NOT use steel wool to clean it - that only works for the moment, and then the stains are back worse than before)
Do NOT wash it for them...or you...they have become accustomed to coffee tasting like this and if cleaned they won't enjoy coffee for at least a year. I know it's revolting but imagine if someone took your coffee from you for a year.

The straight up theft irritates me. If you didn't pay for it then you can't have it unless someone says you can have it. You're actually making it harder for people to pay their bills.
So many of these hurtful "pranks" indicate an extremely unhealthy work environment, with people taking out their despair and hatefulness on their colleagues. Management should take this very seriously and remove these people from the workplace. The human capacity for revenge and retribution is unlimited...these behaviors will spread.
Then again, it may be one of the ways these people choose to lighten up the atmosphere in their stressful work environments. I've found it helpful to avoid assuming the worst of a situation.
Load More Replies...Yup. This list made me mad. That many people sucking is kinda depressing.. considering it's just a drop in the bucket.
The only good thing that came with pandemics was the privilege to work from home. People sucks. Passive-agressive children and pigs like these ones, specially.
The gross cars and personal hygiene issues almost made me puke.... I'm not super a**l about cleanliness, but COME ON
There should be a special place in Hell for some of these people!

Load More Replies...there was once at work someone in the UK didnt want a B day party due to panic attacks when surprise, they did anyways the worker sued them for almost half a million and won.
There was this time I was working in an office and they did a practical joke, covering all my stuff in plastic wrap and tape. When I arrived I just sat there, doing nothing. They were laughing their asses off, but I was just there sitting on my plastic-wrapped chair. Then the manager comes in, laughs for a while, looks at me and says "aren't you gonna take the plastic off?" And I said "are you gonna pay me for the extra task not described in my contract?" Everyone got quiet, then he ordered my coworkers to clean the mess and apologize. I left the job the next day.

Load More Replies...The first one reminds me of n incident that happened to a friend of mine. It's near Halloween and she was told to come in to work in costume. She was the only one who came in costume, a popular and cute anime character, she was given an exemplary award while in costume, also got a best in costume award because the boss was actually serious about how everyone should have came in costume.
Some of it is stupid, etc., but when you have a co-worker who does something like some of these CONSTANTLY, every damned day, even after being told not to - yeah, people have a right to be "affronted".
