It's a good trait to be generous - but it's also good to know when you're being taken advantage of. Not everyone has the skills to say "no" to moochers, users, and choosy beggars, so Bored Panda has collected some various tips. First, it is important to communicate the boundaries or conditions around what you are giving to them.

If you want to help, haggle or handout - go for it- but also know that it is ok to say "no"! Some people take generosity to mean that you can be pushed to give more and more. If someone has assumed that your niceness means that you won't say no, respectfully remind them of your limits. In some cases, people won't want to continue to have transactions after you turn them down, and that's ok.

Don't let yourself be consumed by guilt - set your boundaries and stick to them. Just because you can be accommodating doesn't mean you should. Most of us are taught it is a social norm to share what we have with those less fortunate, but giving back doesn't mean sacrificing your worth. Sure you can afford to cut a little off a price, but you are not responsible for other people's financial burdens. Remember if you give an inch to someone who is trying to take advantage they will want more.

Choosing Beggar

Choosing Beggar

Two years ago I saw that guy with the gas can begging for money. Tried to give him four dollars, but he said he doesn’t take anything less than five. After that I saw him there everyday for months. Turns out he’s a fraud with a new Jeep and a nice house. Been following him with this sign since.

I've had the pleasure of such an experience. A colleague of mine, who was in the marketing department (she was just playing Candy Crush all day long most of the times) came to me with a purely illogical and physically impossible request, for a packaging. I politely tried to explain her using her very limited technological knowledge and abilities, that it cannot be done, why it cannot be done, and that I'm not gonna waste my time doing that. I also offered her alternative solutions. Her reaction: "OK!!! Then I'LL DO IT!! It can't be that hard." I gave her my seat, took a step back and enjoyed the rest of the show. She sits on my chair, adjusts it for a minute, stares at the Illustrator window for 10 seconds and says "OK, now TELL me what to do next!!!" I burst into laugh and invited her out of my office before she deletes something important.

Lastly, don't feel bad when you shame a freeloader. We should always treat others with respect but in some cases, you need to be extra firm. "A freeloader really cares nothing for your needs and thoughts, even if they convince you that they do. They also rarely care for normal social etiquette."

Lady Wants Barely-Used Computer For $25

kaysimm12 Report

The expression 'Beggars can't be choosers'? first recorded into print in 1546, when it appeared in a book of proverbs compiled by John Heywood. The first form was written as 'Folk say alway, beggars should be no choosers.' Another similar proverb from a different angle is, 'If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride,' which is more rarely used.

The thing is some shops price match so telling them you can find the exact same product cheaper online or in another shop can be a huge benefit. Quite often they can offer you the same deal or sometimes even 10% cheaper.

Why do people ever think that it's ok, ever, to shame anyone in public, on social medias? Not even stranger, let alone spouse, child or friend. If someone would do that to me, we wouldn't be friends or in touch anymore. If you don't like something about me, talk to me, don't try to shame me online in front of everyone. So rude and disrespectful!

You keep saying, "boxed" and "canned" like she was supposed to get up at the crack of dawn like your Nonny did to hand roll the pasta herself and stew the sauce for 10 hours after she went out to the garden to pluck the plump, ripe tomatoes from the vines she's been cultivating for years. Did she also grow the garlic, oregano and peppercorns herself? Where do you keep the cow that she milks in order to make and age the parmigiana she needs to sprinkle on top for you? Sounds like Mommy's boy needs to grow the f*** up!

The only difference between the two pastas is the shape. The dough recipe is the same. So she used sauce from a jar. It's understandable if she worked all day at a job too. He's lucky she made that much for him. He can just go hungry or cook his own dinner from now on. What an ungrateful bastard!

Even if she's stay-at-home, who has the time to make it from scratch? My childhood dated from before jarred sauce (if you could even find it, or afford it!) We got pasta once every 2 months or so because the sauce took forever, used all sorts of stuff, and you ended up with maybe 4 cups of sauce (if you were lucky) because of course it cooked down *into* sauce. I am properly grateful for canned and jarred sauce. It was a major undertaking--and still used a lot of canned stuff!

I think i commented on this on another post, but here it is again anyways: I may not like my wifes cooking at times, and outside of health reasons I will still eat it. The most she gets from me in that regard is "this is not my favorite" or "I would prefer that this not get cooked again." But I eat it. She may love it and cook it again, so what? I didn't cook it....I cannot complain, and to do so is an insult! Oh, and sauce from a jar is just fine, she can do better but for ease and speed it works well. The noodles have the same stuff in it, and taste no different in this case. This guy....is just an a*s.

He would never eat at my table again. And real Italians would probably shame him for not bringing enough money home to make sure she had all that was necessary for a meal. This is a man destined to eat delivery pizza for his entire life.

Yeah, so? Unless you were paying her and she promised a Michelin star meal, you have nothing to complain about.

If you want to complain, especially publicly, you can do the cooking.

what's wrong with it? That looks yummy. Maybe a bit small portion for a man but other than that. Also what are elbow noodles?

Elbow is the shape, sometimes called macaroni noodles as popular for macaroni & cheese dishes. In pic, the smaller curved noodle. I guess named because it resembles a bent elbow?

Well, if his wife is a housewife that doesn't have to work then yeah he has all the right as cooking dinner IS her job. If she also works and contributes financially in the relationship then he better thank her 10 times for cooking him ANY dinner

Ok, THAT is not ok. I am honest with my wife, if I dont like it I will tell her. Generally politely. But never would I post it on social media complaining, and NEVER would I make more than one comment about it not being one I like. I will eat it unless it was plain impossible (such as a serious cooking mistake, which with my wife is VERY rare). Simply put, she put her time into it and made food for me. I will eat it, and be happy that I didn't have to make the food because she did. This poor excuse for a husband needs to pull his head out of his 4th point of contact...

I would have started WWIII over that if my husband even thought about doing something like that. I'm not his maid, he cooks for himself. This way if it's not to his liking, he can criticize himself.

Dude! Then learn to cook that sheet your self! How about you learn to make the noodles, learn to make the sauce, learn to make the sausage and the meatballs. Thats what I did, I didn't like what I was given by a "professional" so I learned how to make it, and now I teach others to make it for their families for free! Damn quit bitching people and freakin do something about it.

This is just so sad. I hope the woman left this entitled POS 2 days before Christmas. Because that's when he suffers the most. Ever seen a jerk trying to cook food? I bet he couldn't even boil water without starting a major fire.

I have a tip for those with little to no income who want to read books: GET A LIBRARY CARD. If your library doesn't have books from a particular author you like, you can message them to suggest they acquire books from that author, they often take suggestions into account when purchasing new books. Don't read pirated books if you can't afford to buy new ones.
