40 Times People Saw Infuriating ‘Choosing Beggars’ In Action And Just Had To Share (New Pics)
We all know the saying 'beggars can't be choosers?' but time and time again people like to challenge this idea by doing the exact opposite. Here at Bored Panda, we love to share some absurd stories and nothing is quite as ridiculous as choosing beggars who take no issue with asking for handouts - but only on their own inconsiderate terms.
The following list is a collection of posts from the internet of the best of the worst of these cheapskate types. From haggling over price points to roasting their loved ones for thoughtful gifts scroll down to check out these ridiculously rude people and don't forget to upvote your favs!

A Brilliant Way To Deal With "Influencers"
That's how you find the true influencers vs the scammers and s**t heads
It's a good trait to be generous - but it's also good to know when you're being taken advantage of. Not everyone has the skills to say "no" to moochers, users, and choosy beggars, so Bored Panda has collected some various tips. First, it is important to communicate the boundaries or conditions around what you are giving to them.

This Groomer Is Definitely Prepared For All The Choosing Beggars
If you want to help, haggle or handout - go for it- but also know that it is ok to say "no"! Some people take generosity to mean that you can be pushed to give more and more. If someone has assumed that your niceness means that you won't say no, respectfully remind them of your limits. In some cases, people won't want to continue to have transactions after you turn them down, and that's ok.

Don't let yourself be consumed by guilt - set your boundaries and stick to them. Just because you can be accommodating doesn't mean you should. Most of us are taught it is a social norm to share what we have with those less fortunate, but giving back doesn't mean sacrificing your worth. Sure you can afford to cut a little off a price, but you are not responsible for other people's financial burdens. Remember if you give an inch to someone who is trying to take advantage they will want more.
Choosing Beggar
Two years ago I saw that guy with the gas can begging for money. Tried to give him four dollars, but he said he doesn’t take anything less than five. After that I saw him there everyday for months. Turns out he’s a fraud with a new Jeep and a nice house. Been following him with this sign since.
This Guy Gets It
I've had the pleasure of such an experience. A colleague of mine, who was in the marketing department (she was just playing Candy Crush all day long most of the times) came to me with a purely illogical and physically impossible request, for a packaging. I politely tried to explain her using her very limited technological knowledge and abilities, that it cannot be done, why it cannot be done, and that I'm not gonna waste my time doing that. I also offered her alternative solutions. Her reaction: "OK!!! Then I'LL DO IT!! It can't be that hard." I gave her my seat, took a step back and enjoyed the rest of the show. She sits on my chair, adjusts it for a minute, stares at the Illustrator window for 10 seconds and says "OK, now TELL me what to do next!!!" I burst into laugh and invited her out of my office before she deletes something important.
Lastly, don't feel bad when you shame a freeloader. We should always treat others with respect but in some cases, you need to be extra firm. "A freeloader really cares nothing for your needs and thoughts, even if they convince you that they do. They also rarely care for normal social etiquette."

The expression 'Beggars can't be choosers'? first recorded into print in 1546, when it appeared in a book of proverbs compiled by John Heywood. The first form was written as 'Folk say alway, beggars should be no choosers.' Another similar proverb from a different angle is, 'If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride,' which is more rarely used.

Why do people ever think that it's ok, ever, to shame anyone in public, on social medias? Not even stranger, let alone spouse, child or friend. If someone would do that to me, we wouldn't be friends or in touch anymore. If you don't like something about me, talk to me, don't try to shame me online in front of everyone. So rude and disrespectful!

I have a tip for those with little to no income who want to read books: GET A LIBRARY CARD. If your library doesn't have books from a particular author you like, you can message them to suggest they acquire books from that author, they often take suggestions into account when purchasing new books. Don't read pirated books if you can't afford to buy new ones.

"Fortunately I'm Not In A Position Where I Need To Pay To Work"
It's Free
See, I had a neighbor that would take me out to lunch with her husband or friends frequently. Every time we went, I would order one of the cheapest things on the menu. One day, while out with her and her SIL, she called me on it after I ordered the salad bar and she and her SIL order ribeyes. "Why do you always order the cheap stuff?"she asked.. I said "I feel guilty about ordering too much when someone else is paying." She said "That ends right here.." turns to the waiter "She'll have the ribeye too."
Saw a news story once about a woman having a birthday party for her daughter. She advertised it as a build a bear party, where everyone would build their own bear. The catch, after they were all made and paid for by the parents, she collected them all saying they were for her daughter. Even after the complaints and the children crying she still had no shame. I assume that little girl lost a lot of friends (as she didn't seem to care, as long as she was getting bears). To add insult to injury, the parents all chipped in for the little girl's bear. You just can't make this stuff up.
Parents not teaching that poor child the right values.
Load More Replies...One time another group under my employer was working over the holidays. I came in one day and helped out a bit, then decided to join them for lunch. I knew they were all being paid for but I assumed, since I'm not one of them & was only there that one day, that I'd be paying for my own food and just enjoying their company. I got more food than I needed so that I could have leftovers. But then their boss went and paid for me! I tried to reimburse him but he insisted, since I work with them a lot and had come in over Christmas after all. He wouldn't let me pay him back. I *did*, however, insist that I pay the difference between a normal-sized meal and what I'd actually gotten. I can't imagine being the sort of person who would do otherwise.
That is so wrong. She should be ashamed of herself. I once worked in a law firm. The building manager would cater in BBQ once a year for everyone in the building. This lady came prepared. She brought at least 10 to go containers. She would be 1st in line to pile up a big plate. Sat down and ate. Once she was done, she got up and started to pack her containers. Some people told her that there were more people coming to eat. She said "they had their chances. You snooze you lose!" So the next year, they hid the food and brought more out after she left. She found out so next year she came back after about 30 minutes. The next year to had a big sign up said Please No To Go. She still did it. It was embarrassing.
Surely that woman has a supervisor who could just tell to to stop.
Load More Replies...This remind me of people that go to work potlucks that are not invited and take large amounts of food back to their office. They come in and act like nobody sees what they are doing. Newsflash...WE ALL SEE YOU and talk what a lowlife you are!!!
I don't get the downvote. I would love to do the same. At least for the extra stuff she ordered.
Load More Replies...This is...... Beyond no manners.. this is just mean as fk. He just had a baby too.... They are so expensive😭
What I've heard suggested is to never tell people you're going to pay until the check comes. Have them order what they would if THEY were paying and avoid dealing with this c**p.
And if they don't come because they don't care enough to celebrate with you with their own money, then you don't need them. Although I would feel sorry for someone who was maybe a bit broke this week so chose not to go then missed out.
Load More Replies...What a nice guy ari is! With the extra expense of a new baby to be paying. What a cretin steak/cheesecake lady is.
I took my staff to Cheesecake Factory once, never again. I like the suggestion further down of put the to-go orders on her separate tab...pay the bill for people who at there.
I once went to an elderly gentleman’s retirement meal where not only did one of his invited friend’s Son tag along uninvited but he brought his 30 stone girlfriend and unlike the rest of us who ordered just a main meal, they greedy twats ordered 3 courses, 2 puddings and about 8 pints of lager each. This was a retiring ex military man and civil servant gentleman with plenty of savvy though and he had approached the Father before the meal started and said they were welcome to stay but would be paying for their own meals, something the Father neglected to tell them - until the bill arrived... it was a really swish, seafront restaurant too, the Son’s face was a picture when he was presented with his own bill. “B b but I t t th thought Jim were paying? Dad, can you lend us some cash?” Bloody freeloaders.
She would have been wearing both the steak and the cheesecake if I had been behind her. Cheeky mare.
Whoa...and she did this in front of her coworkers?? Way to go..
I've had a family member try to pull this on me, and I firmly told them no, I didn't have the money to spend and extra $20 on their expensive a*s, I had bills to pay. They sulked until their mother found out 😂😂
Did the coworker really pay for the extras she ordered? Did no one tell him about her theft?
When I was successful I used to often pay to take a couple of friends to dinner. Then one week I met up with friends and there were around 5 other people I'd never met. I said I was going for dinner as I ofter did and they came along. I did not invite them and they literally then expected me to pay. I refused and they didn't even have money. I paid for my own dinner and left saying I didn't know the others and had never met them.
those people are so gross. i used to work with a guy that would do that when our supervisor would take us for xmas lunch. i just felt gross sitting at the table with him
We had to stop department lunches at work for this very reason. You take a team of five out for a nice lunch for a job well done and at least one of them will order extra food to take home every single time. We had to stop this when expenses were getting rejected because six people went to to lunch, but the receipt showed eight meals were ordered. Some people have no home training.
I’d grab that bag and hand it to the person paying, say king here take this home for your wife ♥️😁
My brother took the family out to celebrate my birthday this year. Me, spouse, sister, niece, stepmom, brother & his fiancee. My sister ordered a meal for her husband (who wasn't there) to go. So, after dinner the check comes along with my sister's to go order. She didn't bat an eye at the fact she basically just tacked another $20+ onto the bill my brother was paying without so much as a "do you mind?". He had the good grace to just accept it, but it chapped my a*s something fierce.
That is not okay. It's not free. Someone is paying for it out of the kindness of their heart. Or guilt. Or maybe even blackmail.
Or the lack of manors or decorum. Or fussy eaters just because they are fussy.
We were out with an acquaintance at a coffee shop chain and I was going to buy my own drink, but at the last second she offered: "no no I'll pay, get whatever you want!" Dumbass me had spent the last 10 minutes going over my order in my head because I get super anxious when ordering and I just blurted out my order to the cashier which was a large coffee. I'm still mad at myself for not ordering a small because she was gracious enough to pay for it
I understand she offered to pay for anything, but that was just courteous and I should've been courteous and turned and not ordered AnYThINg I wantedD:

People get it in their heads that they're entitled to anything if they demand it. It's ridiculous, and it needs to stop, because it creates idiots like these.
We can blame these all on the "participation trophy" trend, i.e. everybody deserves something whether they work for it or not.
Alot of the above is just dealing with scammers in retail situations. Most don't actually apply to a homeless person begging on the street, and it's dangerous to allow the implication to remain. If a person has, for whatever reason, reached a point of desperation in their lives where the best way they can see to make money is to ask a stranger for it, then it doesn't matter to me what they have or don't have. I will help them as much as I am able, without being a d**k about it.
I'm speechless! I really am... I find it hard to believe people like that live among us and haven't suffered any consequences to flip them upside down. The god damn nerve of these people...

Basically what I would say to all the a******s on this story. “You dense mother f****r”
I will never understand some people's ability to complain about free stuff. The first time I encountered this phenomena I was at a ~free~ concert being headlined by a fairly well known band, with an also well known band (that I actually came to see, not the headliner) opening for them. The crowd booed the first band off the stage chanting the headliner's name after only playing like 2 songs. Sometimes humanity can be incredibly disappointing. I had been wanting to see that band play for years. Sigh.
So many of these make me think of that line from the Kids In The Hall's "Decaf" sketch: "B***H, ARE YOU FOR REAL??!?!?!??!"
In Denmark homeless people can get a job where they buy a bunch of magazines (named Hus Forbi) to sell. They pay 10 dkr per magazine and resell it for 20 dkr. It gives them pride in life to earn some sort of living. It's brilliant.
