We all know the saying 'beggars can't be choosers?' but time and time again people like to challenge this idea by doing the exact opposite. Here at Bored Panda, we love to share some absurd stories and nothing is quite as ridiculous as choosing beggars who take no issue with asking for handouts - but only on their own inconsiderate terms.
The following list is a collection of posts from the internet of the best of the worst of these cheapskate types. From haggling over price points to roasting their loved ones for thoughtful gifts scroll down to check out these ridiculously rude people and don't forget to upvote your favs!

A Brilliant Way To Deal With "Influencers"
That's how you find the true influencers vs the scammers and s**t heads
It's a good trait to be generous - but it's also good to know when you're being taken advantage of. Not everyone has the skills to say "no" to moochers, users, and choosy beggars, so Bored Panda has collected some various tips. First, it is important to communicate the boundaries or conditions around what you are giving to them.

If you want to help, haggle or handout - go for it- but also know that it is ok to say "no"! Some people take generosity to mean that you can be pushed to give more and more. If someone has assumed that your niceness means that you won't say no, respectfully remind them of your limits. In some cases, people won't want to continue to have transactions after you turn them down, and that's ok.

Don't let yourself be consumed by guilt - set your boundaries and stick to them. Just because you can be accommodating doesn't mean you should. Most of us are taught it is a social norm to share what we have with those less fortunate, but giving back doesn't mean sacrificing your worth. Sure you can afford to cut a little off a price, but you are not responsible for other people's financial burdens. Remember if you give an inch to someone who is trying to take advantage they will want more.
Choosing Beggar
Two years ago I saw that guy with the gas can begging for money. Tried to give him four dollars, but he said he doesn’t take anything less than five. After that I saw him there everyday for months. Turns out he’s a fraud with a new Jeep and a nice house. Been following him with this sign since.
This Guy Gets It
I've had the pleasure of such an experience. A colleague of mine, who was in the marketing department (she was just playing Candy Crush all day long most of the times) came to me with a purely illogical and physically impossible request, for a packaging. I politely tried to explain her using her very limited technological knowledge and abilities, that it cannot be done, why it cannot be done, and that I'm not gonna waste my time doing that. I also offered her alternative solutions. Her reaction: "OK!!! Then I'LL DO IT!! It can't be that hard." I gave her my seat, took a step back and enjoyed the rest of the show. She sits on my chair, adjusts it for a minute, stares at the Illustrator window for 10 seconds and says "OK, now TELL me what to do next!!!" I burst into laugh and invited her out of my office before she deletes something important.
Lastly, don't feel bad when you shame a freeloader. We should always treat others with respect but in some cases, you need to be extra firm. "A freeloader really cares nothing for your needs and thoughts, even if they convince you that they do. They also rarely care for normal social etiquette."

The expression 'Beggars can't be choosers'? first recorded into print in 1546, when it appeared in a book of proverbs compiled by John Heywood. The first form was written as 'Folk say alway, beggars should be no choosers.' Another similar proverb from a different angle is, 'If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride,' which is more rarely used.

The thing is some shops price match so telling them you can find the exact same product cheaper online or in another shop can be a huge benefit. Quite often they can offer you the same deal or sometimes even 10% cheaper.
It just happened to me. I got prescription for contacts and of course they wanted to sell me the contacts. I wanted to give them the business (local store, etc.), but online price was so much cheaper, which I apologetically explained to them. They price matched and I got them there. I also got two extra sets of contacts (no charge) and some solution. I love them and will not go anywhere else now. I do purchase all of my glasses there :)
Load More Replies...Tried this. Shop said they only install parts they supply due to the warranty.

Not only that but sometimes people forget that you get instant gratification of getting the part sooner, you are also covering for the shop owner getting the part and for it to take up space. Learned that when I started crafting and working in accounting.
Load More Replies...I can relate. My ex & I ran an auto repair business. I can't tell you how many times people would pull this kind of s**t. My standard response was "Well, if you can find it cheaper on your own that's great. We will not guarantee or warranty the part you provide. If it breaks or fails after we install it, that will be entirely your fault & we will not repair or replace it free of charge:. Sign here: _______________________
Has no one considered that bricks and mortar shops have overheads that online stores DON'T have? 🙄
I actually had my garage when I needed a part replaced tell me to go to EBay and buy the part then bring it in for them to fit. Saved me £200-300 doing that. One of the many reasons I keep going back.
Sorry, don't agree with this one. The garage is charging for labour and it isn't part of the deal to overcharge on parts.
good luck collecting on that. If I saw that in a shop, unless its a joke, I would make it my mission to tell everyone that parts are cheaper online. In fact they are. I had two tires delivered to my door with free shipping for $100. They wanted over $100 per tire when I shopped around locally.
This is a veresion of trhe cafe signs I'vce seen saying "unsupervised children will be give free triple expressos and a puppy to take home with them."
Happens to my Mum because she runs a charity store. Next time you want to complain that the charity store is charging too much, remember that all "over priced" money is going to charity...
I worked for a neighborhood hardware store for 18.5 years but I still remember the time I talked a customer out of a cordless drill purchase in favor of a corded drill (bigger motor, less cost). I saved her $45 and right in front of me she went online and found the same one I'd recommended for $25 less than we charged (power tools have razor thin margins). 5 years later I can still hear her saying "Thanks, but I can save $25 if I buy it online."
Not for nothing, but some shops charge almost 10x what the online price is. I walked into a computer shop for a part and they gave me an outrageous price. I'm betting they saw a blonde female and assumed I knew nothing about computers when I was actually an engineer. I get they have to mark it up because of the cost of overhead, but when you're verging on a 1,000% markup, then yeah, you should be told your stuff is way over priced. Also, my husband has been in the auto industry for over 30 years and he's getting into another business because he's the only honest auto guy left it seems and he's sick of it and he's disgusted. He says they're all liars and thieves. I have a ton of stories about people in the auto industry shamefully robbing people because the customer didn't know better. But if you're bitching about a product costing 50% more in a store, then yeah, you should shut up. Overhead is expensive as hell.
Yes, my ex quit a dealership because he refused to tell people they needed work done then and there. Tires good for another 12 months? Nope, they were told they wouldn't pass inspection. Something iffy needed replacement immediately. The last straw was when they purchased a very expensive machine to balance tires and were told they had to say the customer needed it (about $150). He was getting a bonus of 5% of others and yelled at daily. I'm very lucky to have an honest mechanic now, recently an estimate I was given was $500+ and He was $200.
Load More Replies...it is BS how shops charge more for parts fora guarantee or something. I do my own work anyway.
Ungrateful Man Shames His Wife On A Public Forum Because The Dinner She Cooked Him Wasn't To His Liking
Why do people ever think that it's ok, ever, to shame anyone in public, on social medias? Not even stranger, let alone spouse, child or friend. If someone would do that to me, we wouldn't be friends or in touch anymore. If you don't like something about me, talk to me, don't try to shame me online in front of everyone. So rude and disrespectful!

I have a tip for those with little to no income who want to read books: GET A LIBRARY CARD. If your library doesn't have books from a particular author you like, you can message them to suggest they acquire books from that author, they often take suggestions into account when purchasing new books. Don't read pirated books if you can't afford to buy new ones.

People need to learn the phrase "go f**k yourself, no one else will" as a response to scammers and free-seekers
I hope some of these are fake. What is happening to the human race really?! Disgraceful.
This is a small snippet of humanity magnified by the internet. If you don't think these things happened pre-internet and then I got news for you.
Load More Replies...Seems like this has been on the upswing since I turned 60, as a young adult I never heard of such as this. I will be 62 a week from Friday and this makes several articles I've read on Bored Panda like this, wish people would grow up and make the right choices.
The internet magnifies these encounters. You never heard of them before because there was no way to post them for everyone to see. Also ease of communication gives people like this more opportunities to be this way.
Load More Replies...That website is the best. I hope it helped 🙃 I think I’ll go read a few stories and indulge in a little schadenfreude..
Load More Replies...Honestly, I have to think that at least some of this insane behaviour stems from the whole (rather toxic) 'the customer is always right' culture going on. People get it in their heads that they're entitled to anything if they demand it. It's ridiculous, and it needs to stop, because it creates idiots like these.
We can blame these all on the "participation trophy" trend, i.e. everybody deserves something whether they work for it or not.
Alot of the above is just dealing with scammers in retail situations. Most don't actually apply to a homeless person begging on the street, and it's dangerous to allow the implication to remain. If a person has, for whatever reason, reached a point of desperation in their lives where the best way they can see to make money is to ask a stranger for it, then it doesn't matter to me what they have or don't have. I will help them as much as I am able, without being a d**k about it.
I'm speechless! I really am... I find it hard to believe people like that live among us and haven't suffered any consequences to flip them upside down. The god damn nerve of these people...
Mmm, weren't 95? i reloaded the page and they removed the other 55. But still great post.
I was in the middle of enjoying your 98 choosing beggars post when the page reloaded to just 40 stories. Thanks, Bored Panda.

Basically what I would say to all the a******s on this story. “You dense mother f****r”
I will never understand some people's ability to complain about free stuff. The first time I encountered this phenomena I was at a ~free~ concert being headlined by a fairly well known band, with an also well known band (that I actually came to see, not the headliner) opening for them. The crowd booed the first band off the stage chanting the headliner's name after only playing like 2 songs. Sometimes humanity can be incredibly disappointing. I had been wanting to see that band play for years. Sigh.
So many of these make me think of that line from the Kids In The Hall's "Decaf" sketch: "B***H, ARE YOU FOR REAL??!?!?!??!"
In Denmark homeless people can get a job where they buy a bunch of magazines (named Hus Forbi) to sell. They pay 10 dkr per magazine and resell it for 20 dkr. It gives them pride in life to earn some sort of living. It's brilliant.
I come to bored panda because it's very positive but lately its been nothing but bad news and depressing society stories and how someone got burnt for being racist on Tumblr or Reddit or something like that. I much rathered those "dank memes" and the articles on art and puppies! can we please do something about this? love from me
