We all know the saying 'beggars can't be choosers?' but time and time again people like to challenge this idea by doing the exact opposite. Here at Bored Panda, we love to share some absurd stories and nothing is quite as ridiculous as choosing beggars who take no issue with asking for handouts - but only on their own inconsiderate terms.
The following list is a collection of posts from the internet of the best of the worst of these cheapskate types. From haggling over price points to roasting their loved ones for thoughtful gifts scroll down to check out these ridiculously rude people and don't forget to upvote your favs!

A Brilliant Way To Deal With "Influencers"
That's how you find the true influencers vs the scammers and s**t heads
It's a good trait to be generous - but it's also good to know when you're being taken advantage of. Not everyone has the skills to say "no" to moochers, users, and choosy beggars, so Bored Panda has collected some various tips. First, it is important to communicate the boundaries or conditions around what you are giving to them.

If you want to help, haggle or handout - go for it- but also know that it is ok to say "no"! Some people take generosity to mean that you can be pushed to give more and more. If someone has assumed that your niceness means that you won't say no, respectfully remind them of your limits. In some cases, people won't want to continue to have transactions after you turn them down, and that's ok.

Don't let yourself be consumed by guilt - set your boundaries and stick to them. Just because you can be accommodating doesn't mean you should. Most of us are taught it is a social norm to share what we have with those less fortunate, but giving back doesn't mean sacrificing your worth. Sure you can afford to cut a little off a price, but you are not responsible for other people's financial burdens. Remember if you give an inch to someone who is trying to take advantage they will want more.
Choosing Beggar
Two years ago I saw that guy with the gas can begging for money. Tried to give him four dollars, but he said he doesn’t take anything less than five. After that I saw him there everyday for months. Turns out he’s a fraud with a new Jeep and a nice house. Been following him with this sign since.
This Guy Gets It
I've had the pleasure of such an experience. A colleague of mine, who was in the marketing department (she was just playing Candy Crush all day long most of the times) came to me with a purely illogical and physically impossible request, for a packaging. I politely tried to explain her using her very limited technological knowledge and abilities, that it cannot be done, why it cannot be done, and that I'm not gonna waste my time doing that. I also offered her alternative solutions. Her reaction: "OK!!! Then I'LL DO IT!! It can't be that hard." I gave her my seat, took a step back and enjoyed the rest of the show. She sits on my chair, adjusts it for a minute, stares at the Illustrator window for 10 seconds and says "OK, now TELL me what to do next!!!" I burst into laugh and invited her out of my office before she deletes something important.
Lastly, don't feel bad when you shame a freeloader. We should always treat others with respect but in some cases, you need to be extra firm. "A freeloader really cares nothing for your needs and thoughts, even if they convince you that they do. They also rarely care for normal social etiquette."

The expression 'Beggars can't be choosers'? first recorded into print in 1546, when it appeared in a book of proverbs compiled by John Heywood. The first form was written as 'Folk say alway, beggars should be no choosers.' Another similar proverb from a different angle is, 'If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride,' which is more rarely used.
Seems Like Indonesia Is Not Choosing Any Of Them Begpackers
Good, send them back home, not that their home countries want such leeches either
That's why we send them THERE! We don't wanna deal with them!
Load More Replies...Good let the back home. As indonesian i was furious for people coming frim abroad doing this in my country! They are able to spend hundreds of dollar partying and having luxury vacation in Bali. and then begged when they travelled through different area in Indonesia. Doesnt even want to spend 3$ on a meal and ask for free food or even free accommodation! I've seen this type of a people a lot. And it getting frustrating.
Seriously? WTF??? I would be mortified to do such a thing
Load More Replies...Let them work until the have repaid the Bali society what they've scammed them for. And then send them to their embassies with a note that they are considered illegal aliens and they need to be out of the country within 24 hours.
Good point, but I was thinking more in terms of helping the farmer himself, he keeps any money, pays me with a place to sleep, a ride on his donkey, a bowl of rice, more of a barter situation where we could both hopefully profit. Frankly, a lot of Americans are concerned about not allowing immigrants in. They make up a large portion of the manual work force, doing what others refuse to do. The wages aren't that bad either, $12-$15 in some areas, just nobody wants to work in the onion fields.
Load More Replies...Most of those "begpackers" don't really need the money. A lot of them are wearing nice clothes and shoes and have nice backpacks. They are scum preying on the natural human instinct to be altruistic.
I explained this to my brother, very succinctly, after he expected my widowed mother to pay for his family's European vacation, 'because [I] had gone." And I said, 'Yeah, and I took out a loan against my retirement to do it, too! If I can't afford something, I don't do it!' Turns out he'd been scamming her for almost 15 years, so he and his family could take nice vacations.
Load More Replies...bagpackers who go to other countries and beg for money, food and othe stuff from the locals.
Load More Replies...Yo alphaPuck I'm not an immigrant but my husband of 19yrs is! He came from 🇲🇽. Crossed the border looked for work been working ever simce never asked for sh#t from us and now pays taxes, has his green card, 2 beautiful children, and me! He is more AMERICAN then I am! His credit is so good he can get almost anything. He pays his way and busted his a*s ever since! So again Mr. " leave the immigrant talk to actual immigrants" who the hell you think you're talking about coming over the border? How about YOU LEAVE real talk to real people who know WTF they are talking about. Hypocrites like you make no sense! You may be an immigrant but your a narrow minded, heartless, stereotypical, and not educated at all about IMMIGRANTS all over thr world. Their struggles, their luves etc. So dont go profiling ONE group of immigrants to all be the SAME! just like saying all your people are the same, CLOSED MINDED & UNEDUCATED#!! Point made. Now can YOU take the point and go read up on history of the first immigrants until now or just kerp running your mouth about stuff you know NOTHING ABOUT. Leave the ADULT conversations to the ADULTS.
I did it the right way. Your husband disrespected American law the MOMENT he decided to cross illegally. The end does not justify the means. I don't give 2 shits about his credit score. I followed the rules and to have someone like you try to tell me that i am not the adult for doing it the legal way is the epitome of irony. Im sure your husband knows more than me on the illegal way to do it.
Load More Replies...Honestly nearly every Australian that acts badly in Bali is a stereotypical bogan (redneck). Lazy, rude, disrespectful, disgusting and stupid with their money. It's really embarassing when I see news articles talking about how disrespectful Aussies are. Like no, please don't lump us in with them, over half our population are the "work until you drop dead" type, and are very courteous to others.
What a disgusting, over-privileged, elitist f*****g generation. Here's an idea: get a f*****g job & save up like the rest of us, you sorry waste of f*****g space. (And YOU were the fastest swimmer?). Talk about a "load" of losers.
I love the ones who have signs that say, "I'm traveling the world on NO MONEY". Not MY money, but yours...
Have seen several references in print to 'influencer industry," a product of inadequate vocabulary. It's not an industry--it's a racket..
Good, send them back home, not that their home countries want such leeches either
Only millenials would go to developing nations and beg money to keep travelling. I travelled around the world and saved first and also stopped and worked.
THANK YOU!! those are the most annoying, entitled people i've seen.
And people wonder why other countries view up as the Ugly American! I've apologized--in front of a******s--for their behavior to the native putting up with them.
lol, so...I agree with this. But have to laugh that other countries push this exact policy, but gripe when USA does the same at the borders? Isn't it the right...no, RESPONSIBILITY of each nation to protect it's country and it's citizens this way?
Depends on your definition of protect, doesn't it?
Load More Replies...Good! Maybe consider this bough: make a pit stop in the middle of the ocean and just drop them off for a swim instead. I can bet their country doesn’t want them back anyway.
I agree, saw a documentary of this and I was ashamed to say if I was from the same country some of the people were. Unbelievable!
People from rich countries who decide to fund their trip by begging along the way. The problem is they usually decide to travel to poor places like Indonesia, Nepal, India, etc where there are hundreds of REAL poor people who need help and food, so they are actually "stealing" from the needy locals. The word is a combination of beg and backpacker.

Why do people ever think that it's ok, ever, to shame anyone in public, on social medias? Not even stranger, let alone spouse, child or friend. If someone would do that to me, we wouldn't be friends or in touch anymore. If you don't like something about me, talk to me, don't try to shame me online in front of everyone. So rude and disrespectful!

I have a tip for those with little to no income who want to read books: GET A LIBRARY CARD. If your library doesn't have books from a particular author you like, you can message them to suggest they acquire books from that author, they often take suggestions into account when purchasing new books. Don't read pirated books if you can't afford to buy new ones.

People need to learn the phrase "go f**k yourself, no one else will" as a response to scammers and free-seekers
I hope some of these are fake. What is happening to the human race really?! Disgraceful.
This is a small snippet of humanity magnified by the internet. If you don't think these things happened pre-internet and then I got news for you.
Load More Replies...Seems like this has been on the upswing since I turned 60, as a young adult I never heard of such as this. I will be 62 a week from Friday and this makes several articles I've read on Bored Panda like this, wish people would grow up and make the right choices.
The internet magnifies these encounters. You never heard of them before because there was no way to post them for everyone to see. Also ease of communication gives people like this more opportunities to be this way.
Load More Replies...That website is the best. I hope it helped 🙃 I think I’ll go read a few stories and indulge in a little schadenfreude..
Load More Replies...Honestly, I have to think that at least some of this insane behaviour stems from the whole (rather toxic) 'the customer is always right' culture going on. People get it in their heads that they're entitled to anything if they demand it. It's ridiculous, and it needs to stop, because it creates idiots like these.
We can blame these all on the "participation trophy" trend, i.e. everybody deserves something whether they work for it or not.
Alot of the above is just dealing with scammers in retail situations. Most don't actually apply to a homeless person begging on the street, and it's dangerous to allow the implication to remain. If a person has, for whatever reason, reached a point of desperation in their lives where the best way they can see to make money is to ask a stranger for it, then it doesn't matter to me what they have or don't have. I will help them as much as I am able, without being a d**k about it.
I'm speechless! I really am... I find it hard to believe people like that live among us and haven't suffered any consequences to flip them upside down. The god damn nerve of these people...
Mmm, weren't 95? i reloaded the page and they removed the other 55. But still great post.
I was in the middle of enjoying your 98 choosing beggars post when the page reloaded to just 40 stories. Thanks, Bored Panda.

Basically what I would say to all the a******s on this story. “You dense mother f****r”
I will never understand some people's ability to complain about free stuff. The first time I encountered this phenomena I was at a ~free~ concert being headlined by a fairly well known band, with an also well known band (that I actually came to see, not the headliner) opening for them. The crowd booed the first band off the stage chanting the headliner's name after only playing like 2 songs. Sometimes humanity can be incredibly disappointing. I had been wanting to see that band play for years. Sigh.
So many of these make me think of that line from the Kids In The Hall's "Decaf" sketch: "B***H, ARE YOU FOR REAL??!?!?!??!"
In Denmark homeless people can get a job where they buy a bunch of magazines (named Hus Forbi) to sell. They pay 10 dkr per magazine and resell it for 20 dkr. It gives them pride in life to earn some sort of living. It's brilliant.
I come to bored panda because it's very positive but lately its been nothing but bad news and depressing society stories and how someone got burnt for being racist on Tumblr or Reddit or something like that. I much rathered those "dank memes" and the articles on art and puppies! can we please do something about this? love from me
Choose the ones you want to read more wisely then. No-one is forcing you to read any of the 'dank' ones.
