The World Health Organization has announced time and again that COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be safe, effective and life-saving.

What’s even better is that the new analysis by PHE found for the first time that 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be “highly effective against hospitalization from the Delta (B.1.617.2) variant.” So as the contagious new variant is sweeping across the country, getting a COVID-19 shot is now basically a matter of not getting severe complications, and for some, it’s a matter of life and death.

But when it seems like all the evidence of the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination is more than obvious, some people still find the excuse of not getting it. And honestly, some of their reasoning is beyond insane.

From believing that a COVID-19 shot will turn you into a living zombie to claiming that Jesus himself is enough of “a protector and a mask” to protect from the virus, it’s one hell of a read. Treat it as a sci-fi read at most or utter craziness, and scroll through some of the worst excuses people shared online down below.

What Are A Vaccine For?

Milesio Report

Ever since the pandemic emerged, vaccine skeptics have pointed to the fact that the coronavirus vaccines were available only under emergency-use authorizations. So when the Food and Drug Administration this week fully authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, COVID-denialists and anti-vaxxers have taken desperate measures to prove their points.

Some employ arguments found on fake news websites, others go deep into conspiracy theories that revolve around mistrust in government and science. So in order to find out what’s at the root of the mind of vaccine sceptics and COVID denialists, we reached out to Robert Gifford, a Professor of Psychology and Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria.

Robert is best known for his “The Dragons of Inaction: Diagnosing and Slaying the Barriers to Positive Climate and Environmental Action” study. According to this theory, these dragons are a compendium of psychological barriers that hinder a person’s desired actions. Robert argues that “they have mainly been gathered to help explain why a person agrees that climate change and environmental sustainability are important problems, yet does not take enough action to effectively deal with those problems.”

I really don't get how people can think of science and be like "Well why do the scientists get to decide what's truth and what's not?". You really have not been paying any attention in school. Like, at all, for consecutive years.

“However, the dragons may apply to other things, such as COVID denial,” he explained and continued: “In particular, without data, my opinion is that COVID denial is strongly related to Mistrust, one of the Discredence genus of dragons. Deniers do not like scientists and governments (unless they are populist governments that also are skeptical about both COVID and climate change).”

The professor continued: “Of course the Mistrust dragon is rooted in the Limited Cognition genus dragons called Ignorance and Confirmation Bias (that is, lack of factual knowledge and the tendency to pay attention to media that echoes one’s existing beliefs).”

When asked what to do when encountering a COVID denier, Robert suggested keeping an extra-large distance. “That’s about all that one can do. The other approaches are futile,” he said.

it's interesting how keeping a pregnancy of one single mother, is everyone's business.... But taking a vaccine against a virus that can affect anyone, and kill them even tho the "immune system is strong" , is a private choice, that should be respected.

That’s pretty much what one of my older sisters has said, but her older children (21 & 24) are not thinking the same as her, so I’ve a feeling that they will eventually get the vaccine, if they haven’t done so already. I can’t help feeling for my youngest niece, though (8). Means she won’t even be allowed to leave the country, so no more trips to DisneyWorld. My sister is stubborn, though & says she doesn’t care if she never leaves the country; she won’t let them stick a bunch of chemicals into her body (her ignorant words, not mine). Ironic, considering she’s a smoker & also addicted to energy drinks that contain mad amounts of caffeine & taurine. Tried saying as much & she nearly bit my head off! 🤷‍♀️😂

A decision made unabashedly as a family. Hmm. So the family who doesn't get vaxxed together has a real possibility of getting Delta and passing it around to each other, one of them dying and therefore not staying together. Forever.

For heavens sakes I’m tired of this .. people who are pro life are pro life because they believe life begins at conception which means they believe they are protecting someone’s life . You can not change a pro life persons mind by telling them it’s none of their business or doesn’t affect them etc .. to them it’s like choosing to ignore woman being raped and murdered in other countries because it doesn’t impact or affect anyone else but the woman being attacked … you can not reason with a pro life person this way

right. and ironically it's "pro choice" (as in pro abortion) people who are some of the biggest zealots in insisting unvaxxers have no autonomy over their body when it comes to this experimental shot. many of these pro-vaxxers have wished death on the unvaxxers. and then died themselves. (RIP Julie Powell, for example). #diedsuddenly is now a thing, a year later. so is #SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome). But I digress.

No, it shouldn’t be the woman’s choice to kill another human. Choosing not to take the shot, only affects me. If you feel the shot protects you, take it. If you choose not to take, then you are excepting the risk. It only affects the person who chooses not to take. Kind of like wearing a seatbelt or not. Why should a person, by law, be made to wear a seatbelt. If I get in a wreck without a seatbelt it only affects me.

WRONG. Choosing not to take the shot effects only you if you are a hermit on a mountain top. If you catch covid you will be spreading it before you even know you have it. That's how viruses work. You might not even get symptoms or very mild symptoms but you will still be spreading the virus. If someone you give it to dies, their death is on your hands. As far as that theoretical wreck. If you have no family or friends, have no passengers in the car and take yourself out of the gene pool by wrecking into a tree or driving into a lake then yes, it only effects you. Any other situation and there are others effected by your wreck. You do not live in a vacuum.

There is some truth to this “SOME” being the operative word. Kids raised in super clean environments are more likely to suffer from things like allergies, this is due to the immune system not having to work, so it ends up attacking more things we commonly come into contact with, like asthma which can result in death. Google the term “Bored Immune System” to start your education
