This is the world’s first hedgehog hibernation holiday park

The park features cozy caravan homes with double-glazed windows, surrounded by tiny fences, little gates, and mini street lamps. It basically has everything a hedgehog needs for a truly luxurious stay.
The goal of the adorable project is to give these spiky mammals somewhere safe to hibernate, keeping in mind that the animals were put on the endangered species list.
The aim of the park is to protect the spiky animals from predators and the elements during their hibernation

As the number of them is dwindling dramatically, conservationists are doing everything to keep them safe

“We need to prioritise protecting hedgehogs now, before it’s too late,” the representative for Parkdean Resorts wrote on their website. “Before, during, and after hibernation, we need to consider making safe spaces for our spiky friends. From what pesticides we use on our gardens, to making sure safe and healthy habitats remain for them to snuggle up in come November time.”
“We are now encouraging the nation to create their own hibernation homes in their gardens to keep hedgehogs safe all winter long.”

The care for hedgehogs started out as a local initiative at Parkdean Resorts’ White Cross Bay park in the Lake District, but has since spread out all across the UK.
Catherine Lynn, Chief Customer Officer at Parkdean Resorts, told the media: “Hedgehogs becoming endangered is a massive blow for UK wildlife and wildlife lovers. We wanted to do something big and bold to grab the nation’s attention and encourage everyone to play their part in helping protect them from extinction. And what’s more eye-catching than a miniature holiday park, designed and built especially for hedgehogs? We hope this world’s first will inspire people to support our prickly pals at their most vulnerable time of year.”
And even little details, like flowers, benches, and tiny streetlamps

Share on FacebookThey are wild animals for gawd sake! This is ridiculous. Money & time would have been better spent on sensible hedgehog rescues, hedgehog highways etc.
My hedgehogs that turned up in my garden a round February, are still here and new babies. Every night I put out Food and fresh water and wait to see when the first one arrives. A month ago, mother and two little babies arrived. If I don’t do that, Fox’s will come and eat everything in one go In early spring I could count up to 6 now only the babies and two adults. They soon be hibernate but they don’t use my hedgehog House, only in the Spring day time
Can I buy one for my hedgehog? She doesn't hibernate, but I'm sure she would love her own town.
I love this, but I don't think hedgehogs should be a TOP priority, as they have a status of "least concern" on the endangered species list, while other animals like Amur Tigers and Black Rhinos are very very near extinction. I love this holiday inn, and I love hedgehogs, I have nothing against them, they're just not at a point of huge risk right now and I think we should take care of the animals that are first.
I agree with you that Amur tigers, black rhinos and - don't forget pangolins!!! - are more perilously endangered, but there's no reason we can't dedicate our major efforts to helping the most endangered animals and still be able to protect less-endangered species, too. Especially if what they need is something as basic as winter hibernation safety, and when that can be this cute and entertaining!
