WeRateDogs owner Matt Nelson has already pulled off an awesome prank on the FCC Chairman Ajit Pai (a proponent of a rule change that would threaten net neutrality), and illustrator Karina Farek has created a comic that perfectly shows why Matt and the majority of the internet are against what Pai so strongly stands for.
Basically, net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers must treat all data on the internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. This means that internet service providers can’t block, slow down or charge users money for specific websites and online content. If more people would realize what giving up net neutrality in the long run would mean, there would be much more opposition. All packets are created equal!
I think there's plenty of opposition now but the greedy rat bastards don't care what the people want as long as there is a buck to be made. Democracy, hell, it's time to get out the pitchforks and torches.

The whole thing is just stupid. What do people intend to gain from putting limits on the internet, aside from a tiny amount of income? Most people will just give up on using the internet all together depending on prices just to check their facebook or something.
It's not a tiny income. They're going to gain a lot because people who use the internet for work will be forced to pay more. If people want to watch Netflix or Hulu or any other streaming service, they'll have to pay more. These people are doing this to gain more power and more money. Social media is a huge part of some people's jobs and careers and without net neutrality, they lose everything or pay to keep making a living.

I'll be dropping internet if prices go up much higher, but I couldn't have done that a few years ago when my kids were still home and in school. Most of their homework was done online.

Could anyone explain what that all about, please? I've seen a lot of posts about "net neutrality" but still have no idea what caused all that rage. I should probably be better informed but I live in one of European countries and there's nothing about that topic in any local media.
So glad I'm European. In the EU, access to teh interwebs is considered a basic human right. Nobody could pull off this kind of BS over here.

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm confused. So net neutrality is a bad thing we don't want or a good thing we have now or something in between? Don't people charge for access to certain sites all ready, so what's this all about? If you don't want to pay, you use a free site that makes its money from ads instead. Please enlighten me. :-)
AT&T owns direct tv. If we don't have Net Neutrality if you don't have AT&T you sign into your direct tv account to watch while traveling, direct TV could slow your speed so it takes a long time to load. You will get mad at your wireless carrier and you may switch to AT&T. They just won. Or you have AT&T and dish Network. AT&T may slow it down to get you mad at Dish Network and switch to Direct TV. They one!!

It wasn't worth it to the media companies then to price gouge us back in the day. We weren't as dependent on the internet even 5 years ago. It is absolutely worth their while now to bribe the FCC to get rid of net neutrality The corporations have belatedly discovered just how many services they can charge us for and how much they can charge. I have to use the internet extensively in my job for email, cloud file storage, VPN, and Skype; my company also builds content for mobile devices on platforms that are cloud-based. As it is, my company repays me only a small part of the tier of service I need to buy to do my job, and I don't get paid so much that I won't feel it if I get charged more. I'm already upset that we have such an old and crappy communications infrastructure in the US, and I know damn well these companies are going to take our money (and their executives will take 90% of that for themselves) and run. And never mind the internal censoring they can do!
Interestingly, we did just fine without NN, which was implemented in 2015 by an unelected group which has zero accountability. I mean, good grief, how did we survive without NN all those years when the 'net went from dial up with almost no websites to where it is now?
