World Leaders Reimagined As Refugees In A Powerful Project By A Syrian Artist
40Kviews
The United Nations announced that the number of persons seeking asylum or escape from areas of conflict in 2016 reached 65.6 million, which is even more than there was after World War II. Many of these refugees live in dire conditions, so a Syrian refugee and an artist, Abdalla Al Omari, decided to act and send an urgent message to the world leaders, most of whom seem to be indifferent to the crisis.
Abdalla has created a series of paintings he called 'The Vulnerability Series', where he reimagines the world leaders like Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un and more, as refugees themselves, putting them in harsh situations actual refugees face daily.
"Intimate hours I spent with them have thought me more than I could imagine. Just as easily as everything worth defending can become defenseless, moments of absolute powerlessness can give you superpowers," Abdalla writes on his website. "In this universe without gravity, all we can hold on to is our vulnerability. I have convinced myself it is the strongest weapon humankind possesses, way more powerful than the trail of power games, bomb craters and bullet holes in our collective memories. Vulnerability is a gift we should all celebrate."

Donald Trump
This is a pretty powerful image. Makes me feel kinda bad for (this fictional version of) him.
Kim Jong-un
The Queue
Vladimir Putin
Angela Merkel
Barack Obama
Not sure. Did his alternate version also supported the "rebels" with money and firearms?
David Cameron
Asshat! What about the trillions $ worth of bombs dropped on innocents. War on Terror crates Terror not peace. When will people learn?
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
He and his country has accepted more than 7 million refugees. I am sure some of them will welcome him to their home.
Yarmouk
The Boat
My hometown is on the mediterranean sea; everyday people running from war and poverty and injustice try to cross the sea, crammed in old boats. lots ot them never made it to the shore, they'll be forever in that sea. this image is very very powerful and sad to me
François Hollande And Nicolas Sarkozy
I don't know if this was intentional but their pants are the color of their political parties
Painfully beautiful
I'm glad the personalities depicted were not subject of mockery by exagerating their personal traits, which is very common in political animation. The drawings were made with respect, deepness and feeling.
A fistful of salt
brilliant work
I agree with Rainbow Screen that is is "painfully beautiful".
I love this imagination!
Overpopulation will be our extinction.
Not all are fleeing adversity. If they want to find a better life, then they need to stop bringing the behaviours that cause the problems.

But...? I don't see the truck with which they run over the walkers, shouting 'Allahu Akbar!'...
The other day Muslims were ran over by a white British man. It has nothing to do with race, religion or anything. Mentally sick people who'd do that can be found anywhere. But oh, of course, the only terrorists are the immigrant children and women whd'd die if they stayed in their countries, aren't they?
Hi again, I'd also like to point out that Milo Rastapopoulos has -235 points on Bored Panda. Don't you think he'd get that people don't like what he's saying? It's people like him that don't understand what is going on in the world; and it's people like him that cause other people to stand up and fight for what is right. This actually reminded me of an Arnold Schwarzenegger quote (but in this case substitute the word athlete for the word refugee): "You have two possible paths ahead. Right now, I guarantee you that these refugees have more courage, compassion, brains and skill ― actually more of every positive human quality than you. So take their path ― you could learn from them, and try to challenge yourself, to give back, to add something to the world. Or you can stay on your path, and keep being a sad pitiful jealous Internet troll who adds nothing to the world but mocks anyone who does out of small-minded jealousy."
Muslim = Terrorist. White killing muslim = self-defense.
You really have no idea about what is happening around you, do you? Please, try to look a bit behind the mainstream sensationalist media, and discover the complexity of the current events. Yes, there are terrorists attacking and killing people. But this is not how the story started and nor where it ends.
Why even engage this worthless fuck
No, but what you do see in some of these are people trying to flee their native countries, countries that they loved. They left them to attempt to have a better life. People die trying to get to a place that their children and families can be safe. Every religion and every ideal has someone who interprets it in a radical way; but not every person from a religion or ideal is a terrorist. What's worse is someone who has all these freedoms that these refugees will never have; and yet, they still continue to verbally assault the people who are in need. #refugeeswelcome
Why u so racist? Those poor refugees are living under a government that they may not even SUPPORT! They don't have the same freedoms as you.
