Children With Down Syndrome Recreate Famous Paintings To Prove That Everyone Is A Work Of Art

“Every human is a piece of art.”

Albanian photographer Soela Zani gives a new life to individual with Down Syndrome by recreating most famous paintings, and it’s been a great accomplishement.

Let’s not forget that the importance of family awareness and our attitude towards people who are different are great. To educate children and to provide the clear differences for individuals with special needs, to develop positive attitudes and behaviors of the adults of the future we have to create positive examples.

Because we are stronger than our differences, with more happiness.

Such tender beauty in life mimicking art. Not only something we can enjoy seeing but something they themselves can be incredibly proud of.

These children have the perfect eyes, they really capture the spirit of the paintings. Their eyes are full of wonder and curiosity and they're so round and open, showing their openness to the world. Lovely recreations of famous paintings. <3

These are amazing. The children were really chosen to represent the photos -- the likeness. I bet the kids had fun dressing up :)

I think the photographer was having a lot of fun. I look at the paintings and don't see them as Down Syndrome subjects at all in the originals. However, I should point out that many artists would sketch their paintings sometimes several times before they actually painted them. You need to study the sketches and the strokes of the painting to help determine if they were possibly Down Syndrome as well. The strokes are not captured by the camera very well nor can we guess at the tools which the painter used which were also "telling." But I have seen many Down Syndrome subjects in paintings especially in Europe but not these!

I've seen Las Meninas in person quite a few times at the Prado. Velasquez painted the princess several times before he painted Las Meninas big painting. She was definitely not Down Syndrome. Plus, he had her painted as she got older. It's a shame because this photographer goofed! There was a Down Syndrome boy in that particular painting and he didn't picture him! However, the photographer is correct, a lot of Down Syndrome subjects were used by many artists throughout history for one because they could sit longer. The royalty and the church had enough money to pay for portraits. And the churches often commissioned the 12 apostles. When you look at those, many had Down Syndrome! There is a painting with Down Syndrome children (several in fact) in the Kimball by either Rubens or Rafael. I can't remember which. But, it's in Ft Worth, Texas in their permanent collection if someone wants to go see it. I
