Hairstylist Shares 30 Women Who Took The Risk Of Cutting Their Hair Short And Didn’t Regret It Interview With Artist
1.1Mviews
Nowadays, short hair for females is not only considered practical, but also a very stylish option that most women tend to go for when they want to switch up their look. There's an extensive list of reasons why short hair is great and most women agree that getting rid of it after a lifetime of tangling and damaged, split-ended long hair could be one of the best decisions ever.
Moscow-based hairdresser Kristina Katsabina helps women to feel beautiful again by making incredible transformations by just cutting off their hair. The talented hairstylist provides her clients with short haircuts, proving that female beauty is not measured by the length of the hair, nor is it measured by the stereotypes our modern-day society has set.
Giving her clients a fresh new look is one of the main reasons why Kristina does these before-and-after comparisons showing how a haircut can change a whole person within a matter of hours.
In any case, if you are wondering whether or not to go for the big cut, we have gathered a list for you of Kristina’s best work to help you decide if you are up for a transformation! Feel free to take a look at these 70 women who made dramatic changes to their hair by cutting it all off.

Seeing these amazing transformations, Bored Panda reached out to Kristina, as we were quite curious to find out how the talented hairstylist was able to start this whole trend of short haircuts as well as the inspiration behind it.
"A lot of women in their 30s are either working in a field they do not like or they have lost all of their inspiration to keep moving forward. It happened to me too; at some point, I lost all of my motivation to keep moving forward and deepen my knowledge when it came to my profession at the time. Before becoming a full-time hairstylist, I was teaching Spanish and also worked as a translator and choreographer."
"I think if I would have my own children, I would probably be on maternity leave like most women. However, at the moment, all of the spare time I have belongs to me, and I’m putting it into self-realization by doing significant things that are important to me personally. I like to keep a realistic overview of myself and the things around me. Knowing what’s important to me and what I love and want has helped me to take steps in the right direction to become a hairdresser, and frankly enough, I was considering this profession for a while before that. The profession had all the requirements for me to like it:
1.Creativity, style, and beauty.
2.Working with and for people.
3.Good pay.
4.Freedom (I could probably still work as a hairstylist even while being on the moon.).
5.I’m always learning something new.
6.The results of my work are immediate.
7.The opportunity to manage the process from beginning to the end.
8. A job where both my hands and head are involved."
Her hair cut brings out the beautiful natural colour of her hair
"When I put a checkmark on every one of those points, my decision was made instantly. The results can be seen in the before-and-after transformations I’ve done on my clients.
Now, talking about short haircuts—it was love at first sight. First, I fell in love with my own transformation, one could say I went to the extreme, going from long locks to the short hair I have now. The transformation results weren’t only visible in my appearance—no, the transformation also touched me from the inside too, I felt way happier than before.
When I started working as a hairstylist, I had more and more clients coming in to get a short haircut. Making these haircuts happen with my own hands, I saw the real transformations unfold right before my eyes. In the end, I fell in love with the process and it made me realize that I could see people in a different way. It is all about giving them suitable haircuts based on their preferences, personality, and the person’s overall charisma."
We asked the hairstylist, what was her favorite transformation, and here's what she had to say:
"I’m a highly specialized specialist, so people come to me exclusively for short haircuts. There are a lot of transformations I’ve done, but I couldn’t say which one is my favorite since every haircut is unique and personally tailored for the person I’m giving it to. I like the transformation that happens with my clients during the cut itself. You can see how the face becomes more lifted, women become way younger right away, and the haircuts themselves make them look more stylish, and modern by giving them a sharper look"
There are a lot of things a hairstylist should know, but Katsabina believes that some things should come from the person itself.
"I think the main thing the hairdresser has to possess is the ability to wholeheartedly love working with people and feel their needs. Of course, you also have to consider things such as aesthetics and one’s personal taste, but in the end, your mission is to make a person a better, more beautiful version of themselves. And that's what I do with my haircuts, I like to make women feel happier, more beautiful, free, and brave."
I liked the long hair but they should've layered it and volumed it up.
300 year difference. From misty and romantic to sharply contemporary.

Short hair is awesome! However, a lot of these cuts are very hard to style yourself without a lot of time, product and hot styling tools. I've worn some pretty 'out there' short haircuts in my life and the ones with any sort of length in them are a major pain in the a**e.
Thank you. Just what I thought when I read the words "more practical"...not really.
Yes, some of the short cuts are harder to manage than a long pony tail.
Yup! These would be a nightmare investment of tiem to maintain with my extremely fine, flyaway, krinkly hair. I have gone short several times in my life (now 75) and have ALWAYS regretted it. Am also not buying into BP's "go gray" meme, which features high-maintenance color investments. How about some features on women that work with their hair's real nature, maybe defy expectations by keeping their original color by doing it at home, etc. ? I know I am not the only one that goes low-maintenance but still gets compliments on my hair, including by pro hairdressers. You know, like real people?

Idk, my hair has been all lengths and is pretty happy to just wash and wear at any length. Guess I'm just lucky.
Agreed. Spend less time dealing with my long wavy hair now, than I did with a pixie cut that needed styling. Takes longer to dry now, but air-dries by itself with no input from me.
Actually I have short hair, and it is super easy to style, it takes about two minutes with a hairdryer

Some of them with thin/fine hair look better with a short cut and it's worth the trouble (I'm sure they have a lot more to do if they want their longer hair to look nice), but a few of them should regret their choice imo :)
There are some easy ones! I got my hair chopped off 3 years ago and all I have to do with mine is put a bit of product in it after I wash and towel dry it. Whereas my hair was way harder to manage when it was long.
Me too.
Not really. You can get really good at it and pretty fast. I have had several of those and get mine done in about 5minutes.

I loved my short hair! Would style it wet, and let it air dry. Never had time to do all the style stuff, but I always like how going natural with it, was very cool and time freeing!
That's actually a flat out lie. Most of these cuts require one thing - a quick combing when you get out of the shower and nothing else. A really good hair cut works WITH your hair - if you need to fuss with it, then you've got a bad haircut.
That's a really good point. If you try to make your hair do something it just doesn't want to, obviously you're making trouble for yourself. Maybe my best luck is that I have an amazing hairdresser that I've been going to literally all my life. If you want a style that's not gonna work, she'll sure tell you before she touches your hair.
Agreed. I have a phenomenal stylist. She cuts my hair to my only spec: I want zero fuss. I get a stylish, no-fuss cut that falls exactly right, with no product. Should I want to play with it and style it differently, it takes all of three minutes, because my hair is so short. People with long hair don't know how easy short hair is to maintain- with the right cut.
You are so right!!! I know bc I've been there and done that!!! My short hair was so much easier to deal with than my long hair.
I wish women getting the haircuts of their choice were considered normal, not "daring" or "brave". Anyone can rock long or short hair, and everyone should be able to choose without being judged.
I've had long hair almost all my life. If I were to choose to have it cut short it would be a daring and brave move. Just the thought of it is scary to me.
If considering going short go to a wig shop and try on short styles to see if you like the look before doing anything drastic.
It was to me too, but it was because of the pressure from others.
Having done it several times in my 65 years in this life, there are basically 2 ways to go. First is to take a deep breath and cut out all of (and donate it, please). Make sure you let it really annoy you first, so it's a real relief to see it go. The second (I did this most recently after having donated 3 times, paid my dues, LOL) is to plan 4 or 5 stages, so you get to try out several different styles from long to short. I went every month and got a shorter style every time, it was great a great journey!

It is! I had long long hair until I was 18, then cut it! From 40 inches of hair to 10! I loved it! It grows fast so I’ve been long and short all my life. I went super short, and I was so freaked and excited! Felt like I won the lottery and freedom!
I’m wondering if it’s not because of societal standards but just the fact that long hair takes a long time to grow out, people can have sentimental attachments to length, short haircuts can be awkward and tedious to grow out if you decide to, it’s hard to know if you will like it, etc etc, all the things that add up to make it scary for some people = daring that they took that step, if that makes sense.
Not sure that it matters that a few random strangers want to call short hair 'daring,' etc. Also not sure why expressing their own opinion should be interpreted as some sort of negative judginess.

I really like short hair on women. Evidently that's an unusual opinion for a man.
Thank you,, Al! You are a bit unusual, but I think that makes you an interesting man!
Every woman has a different look in different hairstyles even without a drastic change in length. Just a little color & a small but noticeable difference. After a few pics, I was a bit bored. Not every woman can get away with short hair. Personally, I prefer mid-length messy.
Sort of a Helena Bonham Carter look?
Mu husband feels the same way. He says its my choice and he loves the way I look.
