If you are looking for a change after the interesting year that was 2021, why not use this time wisely to plan your next short haircut? Over the past decade or so, short hairstyles have stunned the world of media, and these days more and more women prove that gone are the days when women were expected to keep long, luscious hair just to avoid stereotypes.
In the last few years, women, regardless of their age, have been ditching their long hairstyles in exchange for a fresh short haircut. And gorgeous female celebrities such as Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, and even Tyra Banks have only added to the trend with their short new 'dos, as they tend to make powerful statements, showing that you don’t need long hair to feel feminine and beautiful.
Russian hairstylist Kristina Katsabina helps her clients feel empowered and confident as she proves that one can still look beautiful regardless of their hair length.
Kristina’s work has been previously featured on Bored Panda, and if you’d like to see more of it, you can click here, and here.

In an older interview with Bored Panda, Kristina told us a little bit about the whole trend behind the short haircuts and gave us insights on her clients.
"A lot of women in their 30s are either working in a field they do not like or they have lost all of their inspiration to keep moving forward. It happened to me too; at some point, I lost all of my motivation to keep moving forward and deepen my knowledge when it came to my profession at the time. Before becoming a full-time hairstylist, I was teaching Spanish and also worked as a translator and choreographer."
She looks really beautiful. I think that haircut really compliments her cheekbones
Kristina also had an influx of clients who wanted a "Bixie" haircut. "Bixie" is a short haircut that is often described as a hybrid between the bob, mullet, and a pixie. This exact haircut is a new trend that brings together a classy elegant look and pairs it with an effortless style, combining the best lived-in looks with timeless sophistication, and looks good on any woman regardless of her age.
For the new year of 2022, a lot of women are looking into short haircut trends and inspiration for the following year. Chopping off your hair is never easy as for many it holds sentimental value or even touches upon topics such as religious beliefs. However, maybe haircut trends such as the pixie cut, short bob, or even Chanel cut can inspire one to make changes in life. After all, all big changes start with one's hair!
Omigosh, her eyes were already stunning, but now they are staggeringly noticeable!
Given the overall trends for this year, tell us, Pandas, which transformation was your favorite and why? We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments! As always, please remember to be respectful and mindful when expressing your thoughts, and show the amazing hairstylist Kristina some support on her Instagram page!
I'm surprised no one mentioned her heterochromia - her eye is so cool looking!
Yes to the cut and a double yes to letting the grey hair shine through!
This reminds me of a swimsuit ad I saw. In each of the before and after shots of the various models in various swimsuits, the model wearing the manufacturer's swimsuit was smiling, and not smiling in the other.
Crystal blue eyes look great with both, but I still love more length.
Oh, yeah, the hairstyle really enlivens her face. She doesn't look droopy anymore.
It's good to cut away the overprocessing damage. The hair looks much healthier now.
...and as always, the glasses disappear and with them the reason for the glasses.
I find this haircut quite terrible. The first pic shows a beautiful, fresh, young woman with gorgeous eyes. The new haircut on the other pictures adds at least 10 years...
Note: this post originally had 42 images. It’s been shortened to the top 30 images based on user votes.
Down vote me if you must, but the longer hair pics look better on most of these people. 😕
I completely agree. The first pictures usually show some hair that were lacking styling or were not taken care of. It's clear they looked better after fresh wash, cut and some styling.
I´m gonna be honest here. I don´t judge a person on looks too much at all but I think women look more good with short hair (Most of the time) And a lot of guys I´ve seen are more good with longer hair.
Normal women don't have their own hair stylists at home. It can take an hour to style long hair if you don't want it in a ponytail. Short hair is a quick affair. Women don't owe us long styled hair. Step into the modern times.
The shorter my hair is, the more trouble it is to get it to look a certain way. Everyone I know with short hair has to blow dry and style, etc, I don't have to do any of that.
I have curly hair and had long and short hair at diffident times. When long, I ended up wearing a ponytail all the time because I don't like hair in my face. My scalp didn't breathe and got itchy. Now I have short hair, slap some gel on hair and finger style it. Blow dry is for special occasions. Anyway, some of the women in this article have far too thin hair to have it long and quite a few are naturally curly which takes more work than straight. What gets me is that people say how nice long styled hair would look (and of course it would) but don't understand that everybody has different type of hair which takes different approach. PS in my case mid length hair is the worst, almost impossible to make it look good.
You're doing something wrong if its taking you an hour.. 10-15 mins drying it and 5-10 mins curling or straightening and I have thick long hair.
Well I have curly (therefore dry) hair and live somewhere where it rains a lot (here comes the frizz). If you take 5 - 10 minutes to curl or straighten your thick long hair, it's you who's doing something wrong. Probably missing half of your hair without noticing and not doing a proper job. Which, if you don't have frizz prone hair, wouldn't show anyway so it doesn't matter. I used to do a quick job and wondered why the hair never looked quite straight until my hairdresser told me I can't straighten my hair well if I'm ironing thick chunks of hair quickly.
As a woman myself with rich haircut history, currently with long straight hair, I still think you can look good in long hair without a need of much styling. Getting a fresh haircut or a hairdye, or even using conditioner isn't that big effort or cost, but it can make such a huge difference.
I was about to write the same. The after is freshly styled, cut and dyed. In the before photos they had unstyled hair, grown out dyes etc. So of course it will look better after. It's not about the length of the hair, but the styling. Either way as long as they like it everything is good.
They all obviously wanted to have short hair and on most of these women the eyes, cheekbones and the whole face pop more on the after pics. Shorter hair can be styled using gel and a brush in under 5 minutes. Long hair takes more work and just because traditionally women had long hair we don't have to take away their joy from living their lives for themselves as opposed to trying to be constantly "pretty" for others. Also lot of these women have naturally wavy or curly hair and it takes a lot of money and time to tame that hair. That's why they walk around with a mop on their heads... speaking from experience.
Speaking as someone with deeply wavy hair past her collarbone, I disagree. My hair takes me 30 seconds, and always has. Some frizz cream and go, that's it. Do you think we are all messing with hair tools for an hour?
Are you telling me if you wanted a hair styled (keyword is styled) like from a salon you would take 30 seconds to achieve it? Well good on you, you must have some really good quality hair. Either way, my whole point was that everybody is banging on about how long hair is better but it's only because we don't let women do whatever they want and keep pushing these ideals on them. We've let men have long hair for ages, it's time to let women have short hair without crying about it.

I think the both look stunning.
I won't vote you down, everyone is entitled to a reasonable personal opinion. That said, I felt like every lady looked improved with the short cut. But what do I know? Every perspective is valid with respect.
I’ve always since I was a kid loved long hair!
It also makes almost all of them look older. That's fine if that's what they're going for.

No it didn't. Nothing ages women more as they get older than long hair. You people have no taste. I presume you're American. You people have some sort of weird misogynist attachment to long hair on women. And tbh, most of your women look s**t because of it
I prefer short hair style, but i must admit the models here are not very suited for this type of cut.
You're totally wrong. Their long hair was drab and boring. Most of it looked dry and washed out as well.

Yep...the short hair made most of the women look like men.....hair all pulled away from the face like a dude

I bet you're American.
so? maybe that's what they f*****g want you f*****g a*****e 🤬😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬
These are just two different hair cuts and they look horrible on 80% of the clients
Makes me think of those make over programs for older women. They have long hair first and then they all get a bob or one other variation. All the same. And then they're always so surprised, like: oh wow, this is so unique!

Oh yes, because long hair is just so unique. You do realise you all look the same, don't you? Mostly pretty f*****g awful, with your horrible dry lifeless long hair all hanging the same way.
What is your problem? Why does it matter so much to you how they have their hair? Why are you so offended?? You do you ..let them do them .. there should be zero issue here.

They look great. You Americans just have no taste. You have some weird fetish for bad, boring, lifeless long hair. It makes most of you look like drag queens.
Bit needy for attention, hm, darling?
I really wanted to like these cuts because I've thought of cutting my hair short and thought these pics might help me make the change. I like the look of the longer styles more, but It doesn't matter what I think. If they like it, good for them.
Also keep in mind that if the before pictures were salon styled and not just the average look of day 4 after wash day, a lot of people might have preferred the long instead of the short hair
Short hair is easier to live with and is cheaper on products.
Wrong, short hair must nearly always be styled long hair you can throw in a bun/pony
