The weird thing to me is that one of those references is during the part that talks about both male and female clothing. It talks about how both men and women should cover to the wrists and ankles, and that the hair should be covered for both sexes. It only talks about the face being covered for women. And in the talk of the face and hair covering for both sexes it states it's not required if it would draw undue attention to yourself, such as in places where wearing it would stand out. It's very odd to me that that part of it gets cast off, and that the men of Islam don't properly cover their hair as well.

First of all, hijab isn't a scarf in Islam, it means to cover up with modesty. And it's prescribed for both men and women. To cover their bodies with modesty. Also when we speak about the scarfs used religiously it's not something exclusively islamic, religions like: Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Shikhism, etc for so many many centuries without a problem and it was never and still isn't oppression. I know this post is about a Muslim girl and her hijab but you coming in here saying it segregates is ridiculous and fuels up that thought, African women in their tribes use it and in America there's a lot of African American women that use it and its not segregation so why call it a purity culture and treat it as a problem if they choose to cover their hair? It is very sad that Muslim people have to go through this abuse nowadays when humanity should've learned we shouldn't be discriminative like people that used to support antisemitism. If you actually knew any Muslim women that cry their eyes out because someone ripped their hijab and spit on them that they so proudly love wearing then you can say whatever you want. To me it's like tomorrow someone says all women need to wear skirts and rip the clothes or spit on women faces because they feel it isn't right the image on the toilet door has a skirt and women in real life don't. Why can't humanity just be more humane and leave people do their thing and stop trying to tell other nations what they need to be doing. I thought we had enough of colonisations and enslavements and slaughtering other countries and tell them what to do or what we think is right for them. That kind of mentally projects hatred. You should talk to actual Muslim women instead of just reading the "newspapers".

Wow, gotta love another misinterpretation! Let's take a quick peep at the context. First, grammar! The word used in that verse is 'awliya', and 'friend' is an inaccurate way to translate it. It means more of a 'bosom friend' (for those Anne of Green Gables lovers like myself) - someone you trust deeply and completely, in an emotional way, and also in a political way. While Jews, Christians, and Muslims all have similar values and can get along just fine together, we also have different values, which is why we can't be the closest of close 'allies'. So, am I saying Jews, Christians, and Muslims can't be friends or even interact with each other? No! That's dumb. I'm great friends with people from all different religions (or lack thereof), but I find I'm closest to my Muslim friends, simply because we have a similar way of living.

Apparently you don't know or have enough friends of "these people", they are the same as everyone else, you have good muslims and bad muslims. Kind ones and not so kind, like in any other religion. One of my parents is muslim and the other is christian and there is absolutely nothing different in the way they think, act or treat other people. They simply pray differently and have different traditions. And even if what ure saying is mentioned in the quran, it all depends wether ure a good person or not to belive in it, and like i said there are good muslims and bad muslims which is the case in all religions. Dont put all of them in one category. Its like saying all latinos are drug dealers ( just to be clear my wife is honduran, i am not trying to disrespect anyone). Finally, i am a muslim, my wife, my mom, half my family and the majority of my friends are christians and i am not a special case. Go out and have a chat with muslims, they might endup being @@@holes or you might be surprised.

At least in the sport of wrestling they take action against bigotry. A few years ago an Egyptian wrestler and last year an Iranian was barred from competing for rising to shake a Jewish wrestler’s hand after a match.
