50 Times People Called Out Blatantly Sexist Things That Are Still Prevalent In Society (New Pics)
Life’s full of blatantly sexist things and the everyday heroes of the internet keep calling them out, poking fun at them, and shining a bright spotlight on them to make it clear—these things are not okay. And, bit by bit, society changes. Hopefully, for the better.
The r/TrollXChromosomes subreddit, an online group that’s been active for a whopping decade and has over 812k members, documents when women and men confront sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity head-on. Have a look through some of their newest posts that we’ve collected for you, dear Pandas, and be sure to upvote the ones that rekindled your hope in greater equality in the world.
When you’re done with this list, we invite you to read through our first article about blatantly obvious sexism right here. Meanwhile, scroll down for our interview with psychotherapist Silva Neves, who explained to Bored Panda what men can do to put an end to toxicity, misogyny, and homophobia. According to him, it’s about redefining what ‘male success’ means and teaching society to stop turning a blind eye to what’s wrong.

Absolutely Hate The Way Our Clothing Was Policed In School
Education is a vital part of the fight for greater equality, compassion, inclusiveness, and respect. However, alone without any ongoing and passionate support from us, education isn’t the panacea against sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity that some of us are looking for. It’s not a one-and-done kind of deal: it’s a long, arduous, exhausting process, a war of attrition between competing ideas.
“Better education is definitely key but it is also down to all of us to challenge it by not allowing toxic masculinity to keep going. It means that we all have to actively challenge misogyny and homophobia,” psychotherapist Silva noted in an interview with Bored Panda. He added that both misogyny and homophobia are “still prevalent now in the UK,” where he is based, and “too many people continue to turn a blind eye when they see it.”
Just Let People Be
Let’s Eradicate The Terms “Consensual Sex” And “Non-Consensual Sex” - It’s Either Sex Or Rape. Language Shouldn’t Be Used As A Tool To Obfuscate Trauma And Horror
Let's Please Bring An End To Victim-Blaming, And Shaming
Incomplete analogy - she also needs to be the one who, on seeing a bloke be just a little tipsy, buys him more drinks before he's finished the last one, so he's kept just a little off-kilter by how many he's had, because of course, he shouldn't have drunk so much if he didn't want to get robbed.
According to Silva, men need to do their part and be more in tune with their emotions, instead of trying to repress them as is par for course with toxic masculinity.
“We need more representations of men who embrace their emotions, talk about them and show them with crying, laughing, or hugging,” he said.
Honestly I stopped dating,so I don't start to judge men over a bunch of men which " don't find we match- but can I get some sexual service instead?" Annoying how often it happens.- and it's not my clothes or behavior.( I'm already used to this explanation automatically) Wanna stay openminded and believe in all the good guys out there- so I've just avoid this situations by now.
I'm Sure Selfawarewolves Would Love This
Something else that drastically needs to change is how ‘male success’ and masculinity are defined. “We also need to change the image of 'male success'. So, basically, we need to change society at its core because toxic masculinity is part of a faulty system of thoughts. That will take time, but it can start with all of us doing our parts about it,” the psychotherapist told Bored Panda.
Things Women Shouldn't Wear
Spot On. Really Effing Spot On
Unfortunately, there seems to be getting more of the wrong sort, with the internet spreading weird ideas and connecting the creeps together so they can feed off each other rather than being kept in check by decent male role models around them.
Every Single One
Never Thought Of It Like This
This is good enough to be number one. It’s so good there aren’t even many comments on it because there’s nothing else to say.
Do Not Hesitate To Ask What You Deserve
Absolutely! Employees in the same job should always compare salaries, especially men and women. Transparency in this case is never a bad thing.

Horny By Shoulders
I don't think Andrew understands equality. Equality is women being allowed to walk around topless like men can without being arrested, touched, have derogatory remarks made about them or sexual advances etc.
Let’s not forget that Bill Cosby was released today, because his sexual assault conviction was overturned. This is bullish!t
I Can't Even Watch The Notebook Without Cringing Now
Abortion Rights Is A Human Rights
Women are not dismissible incubators. I wonder if men would be okay with an unwanted growth in their organs for 9 months, causing weight gain, mood swings, nausea, and basically a complete loss of bodily autonomy as strangers constantly pat you like a class gerbil. I assume men would not be okay with that. Why they think women should be is beyond me. If you want to avoid unwanted pregnancies, get a vasectomy.
The Reason Why We Need To Stop Saying #notallmen
I once heard that the rate of attempted suicides among men is about the same as that among women. But men are more often successful. A woman would take sleeping pills or cut her pulse. You can still save them in time. A guy jumps in front of the train or out of the window and is dead. Those might be clichees too, but women think more and men are more impulsive / spontaneous.
I Think We All Know Why
This. Once my colleague (female) said to me "I didn't know you were one of those",you know feminist type. Men don't like feminists. I told her even I don't like misogynist men. She later warned me that my "type" will make sure I will never marry. I told her I'll take my chances and I am not afraid of never getting married.

Experiencing Both Sides Of The Gender Divide As A Professional
And We Prefer Your Opinions About Us Kept To Yourselves Too!
You can have your preferences—makeup/no makeup, long hair/short hair, athletic/curvy, etc.—and you can talk about it to your friends, too. You can even decide to only pursue romantic interests that fit your preferences. What you should really stop doing is loudly broadcasting to all womankind how they should mold themselves to what you like.
While It Is True That Girls’ Brains Typically Develop A Little Faster Than Boys’ Brains, That Doesn’t Excuse A Lack Of Discipline For Boys
Even if there is a biological background...just try harder..Evolution works- we all don't want to live in caves anymore- so keep pushing it
OMG, I find that ALL the time on reddit, mainly with the stereotype of men gaming and girls not at all (it angers me so much as I am a girl who enjoys computer games a LOT) and men vs girls after masturbation, which is so disgusting for me. The annoying thing is, that they often get SO much upvotes >:(
Problem is, as with any social construct, sexism has multiple levels. You have "innocent" or mimetic sexism (literally just doing what everyone else does with no beliefs or understanding involved; seen almost exclusively in small children), passive sexism (weakly-held beliefs at best, mostly just doing it because they either don't know there's an alternative or haven't given it much thought; many fall into this category), active sexism (strongly-held beliefs, resistant to alternative viewpoints, very prone to cognitive dissonance), and extremist sexism (striving to enforce and enhance sexist attitudes and beliefs in others as well as holding strong sexist beliefs).

America Hates Women
This American YouTuber lost it when she came to New Zealand, because when she had kids in the US, she lost her career and had to start over. Then she found out that we get maternity leave and our prime minister used it during her first term, and it really hit this woman that whatever problems we have in this department, the US is next-level horrible about it. It really sucks and I hope the US improves that.

I am raising my boys to treat girls equally and to treat them as friends and it has worked perfectly so far. What I didn’t know, until we moved to a new city, was my youngest (who was in grade two at the time) was known as the peacekeeper of his class between the boys and girls. A couple of the moms who were friends of my wife said that after we moved the boys started to bully the girls. Why can’t more parents teach their boys respect?
Kudos to you!
I shared a similar comment above. Raising my son to treat everyone fairly and with respect. My boy is on the local swim team, and although all the team mates are respectful...sometimes I take him to the pool an hour or so before practice so he can have "fun swim time"...he has noticed how females are treated, even girls his age (9) and he does not like it at all. I have seen him take on boys who are 14/15 years old and outweigh him by 70 pounds, to defend girls at the pool. I have had lengthy talks about his admirable actions but at the same time I fear for him, against bigger and harrowing aggressors. (I have eyes on him all the time) He is an athlete and has heeded my lessons of giving females respect and how, since he is strong, he should look out for those who could use his help. Fact is, he has only seen so far, that females need his help. I fear he might form the opinion that girls are weaker.
I assure him that they are not weaker, but just as strong. In fact 3/4 of the life guards are women and he admires their ability and strength. One in particular is muscle bound and he asked her how she got such great arms (she told him she does light weight lifting). that makes me happy to know he sees girls as an equal...and I hope he does not alter that view as he grows.
Uh oh. Boys naturally do not treat other people according to their sex. It’s drummed into them by us, by our interference. Above post somewhat illustrates that. Well meant. How do I know? Walked into the same trap a couple of times. By stating that „girls can do that just as well“ to someone who never doubted that - guess what you’re really saying & doing?

Kudos to you naturally but what about girls respecting the boys all I see from all the posts above is why cant men change its all men's fault, what about the women's responsibility. why does no one ever point that out as a woman I will happily admit my faults im not perfect im no better or no worse then any man.
gonna comment now before the arguments start
@Anna Banana is this satire? I hope it is

Yeah, I come to BP for a laugh. Not for this s**t!
Aw, diddums. Is your wittle feewings hurt?
The poow widdle baby
So why are you here? Or are you all alone and no one's around to listen to you whine?
It's all about education and there needs to be a consistent and thorough programme to bring boys up to realise all these above things. We'll never get anywhere unless, straight from the start, we nurture youngsters to understand equality. It's harder to teach stubborn sexist adults, like Bryan Wilson below (By the way, if anyone knows him, report him to the police - he's a potential rapist), but some people will understand this and progress will be made. Eventually more people will realise that treating women unequally for any reason is unacceptable.
