Life’s full of blatantly sexist things and the everyday heroes of the internet keep calling them out, poking fun at them, and shining a bright spotlight on them to make it clear—these things are not okay. And, bit by bit, society changes. Hopefully, for the better.

The r/TrollXChromosomes subreddit, an online group that’s been active for a whopping decade and has over 812k members, documents when women and men confront sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity head-on. Have a look through some of their newest posts that we’ve collected for you, dear Pandas, and be sure to upvote the ones that rekindled your hope in greater equality in the world.

When you’re done with this list, we invite you to read through our first article about blatantly obvious sexism right here. Meanwhile, scroll down for our interview with psychotherapist Silva Neves, who explained to Bored Panda what men can do to put an end to toxicity, misogyny, and homophobia. According to him, it’s about redefining what ‘male success’ means and teaching society to stop turning a blind eye to what’s wrong.

Education is a vital part of the fight for greater equality, compassion, inclusiveness, and respect. However, alone without any ongoing and passionate support from us, education isn’t the panacea against sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity that some of us are looking for. It’s not a one-and-done kind of deal: it’s a long, arduous, exhausting process, a war of attrition between competing ideas.

“Better education is definitely key but it is also down to all of us to challenge it by not allowing toxic masculinity to keep going. It means that we all have to actively challenge misogyny and homophobia,” psychotherapist Silva noted in an interview with Bored Panda. He added that both misogyny and homophobia are “still prevalent now in the UK,” where he is based, and “too many people continue to turn a blind eye when they see it.”

Incomplete analogy - she also needs to be the one who, on seeing a bloke be just a little tipsy, buys him more drinks before he's finished the last one, so he's kept just a little off-kilter by how many he's had, because of course, he shouldn't have drunk so much if he didn't want to get robbed.

According to Silva, men need to do their part and be more in tune with their emotions, instead of trying to repress them as is par for course with toxic masculinity.

“We need more representations of men who embrace their emotions, talk about them and show them with crying, laughing, or hugging,” he said.

Honestly I stopped dating,so I don't start to judge men over a bunch of men which " don't find we match- but can I get some sexual service instead?" Annoying how often it happens.- and it's not my clothes or behavior.( I'm already used to this explanation automatically) Wanna stay openminded and believe in all the good guys out there- so I've just avoid this situations by now.

Something else that drastically needs to change is how ‘male success’ and masculinity are defined. “We also need to change the image of 'male success'. So, basically, we need to change society at its core because toxic masculinity is part of a faulty system of thoughts. That will take time, but it can start with all of us doing our parts about it,” the psychotherapist told Bored Panda.

If Im not mistaken, in the U.S., its illegal for an employer to prevent discussions about wage rates and working conditions. So of your told not to discuss your wage with anyone, then someone is more than likely getting screwed and its against federal law.

They just create a cultural pressure not to discuss salaries, rather than make it a company policy that can be proved to be illegal. I will point out though that this is not specifically a gendered thing in intention - they don't want ANYONE discussing salaries, whether that's two men, or a man and a woman. (Although, I have to concede that the *effect* disproportionately hurts women and trans men)

In an effort to break the cycle of this nonsense, my state recently passed a law that employers may not ask prospective employees about their salary history. I can't imagine how many people were cheated on their compensation simply because they had been cheated at their last job.

I think I should be happy then that the place I work in, has fixed salaries for all different positions. All the assistants get the same, all the secretaries get the same etc. If there's a raise, everybody gets it etc.

I'm not actually for that. the company I used to work for did that, I was with them five years, was one of their best managers in the state. two of us carried the other five assholes who made the same salary we did. those five positions were a revolving door of s**t employees that stuck around for a few months before getting fired for rank incompetence. Damn straight I should be paid more than a FNG that can't be bothered to do the most basic aspects of their job. (like showing up.) Yes... wage equality should be a thing. yeah, wage inequality needs to go away, but it's also inequal if half the team carries the other half. Compensation should be based on the work they do, and that's it.

As state employees, our salaries are posted online. Some people don't like it, I was like "Why not, when you apply for a position and they don't put the salary range, how do you know how much to ask for?" I tell everyone about it, all the time.

Not so. Corporations often pay people different salaries in order for them to argue with each other and not holding the corporation accountable. It is a psychological tactic that has been done for decades and it’s negative repercussions Could be seen in the sugarcane fields in Hawaii when corporations paid a certain race of people more money than another race of people. It created so much tension among the workers that people killed each other over it.

I had that situation happen in reverse once. A male coworker barged into my office and demanded to know what I was being paid, because he suspected I was making more than him. In this case, I had more responsibility than he did, my area of specialization was more in demand, and I had worked very hard to negotiate a competitive salary for myself. Yet this man seemed to think it was outrageous that I could possibly make more than him, and he almost expected me to be indignant on his behalf. I told him my salary was none of his business.

Women are not dismissible incubators. I wonder if men would be okay with an unwanted growth in their organs for 9 months, causing weight gain, mood swings, nausea, and basically a complete loss of bodily autonomy as strangers constantly pat you like a class gerbil. I assume men would not be okay with that. Why they think women should be is beyond me. If you want to avoid unwanted pregnancies, get a vasectomy.

I once heard that the rate of attempted suicides among men is about the same as that among women. But men are more often successful. A woman would take sleeping pills or cut her pulse. You can still save them in time. A guy jumps in front of the train or out of the window and is dead. Those might be clichees too, but women think more and men are more impulsive / spontaneous.

Problem is, as with any social construct, sexism has multiple levels. You have "innocent" or mimetic sexism (literally just doing what everyone else does with no beliefs or understanding involved; seen almost exclusively in small children), passive sexism (weakly-held beliefs at best, mostly just doing it because they either don't know there's an alternative or haven't given it much thought; many fall into this category), active sexism (strongly-held beliefs, resistant to alternative viewpoints, very prone to cognitive dissonance), and extremist sexism (striving to enforce and enhance sexist attitudes and beliefs in others as well as holding strong sexist beliefs).
